It makes me so sad that just because I have a diffrent belief that I am automatically one of the most hated people in the USA. I love my fellow mankind and live by a strict moral code because I have a concience, yet most people think I am ammoral and devious. I am a good person and I habitually help less fortunate people and aspire to help kids in Africa some day. I realize that there are alot of pompous atheists out there who critizice religon and try to dissuade deists just as much as deists try to persuade atheists of a god's existence. I could care less about anyone else's personal prefrences and I respect what ANYONE wants to belive.......

Yet I still am hated by many as soon as they find out I am an atheist

Why does everyone hate atheists!

And i dont have a high opinion of myself or seek hatred but I know lots of people who hate atheist and even remember seeing a statistic that 86% of people would not elect an atheist president

And maybe hate is too strong of a word but atheists are automatically judged and I know you have a wonderful intention in trying to "save me" but I find it arrogant the way people go about "trying to save me" sometimes

I can say that I do not hate atheists. Maybe I do not agree with you not believing the same as I do, but that is your choice...not mine. Just as you do not agree with my beliefs, but that doesn't mean you hate me.
Not ALL people hate you dear.
I will say I will pray for you, no disrespect intended either please.
Hope you have a great week.

Perhaps you misinterpret lack of interest as hatred.

As a Christian, I understand your position and agree that you can live by a moral code without believing in a god.

If you act the way you say you do, it maybe that they cannot understand your reasons. Many Christians like many Atheists are pompous and feel that their work in the community is praising God. "So how can you help your fellow man without praising God?"

Many people throughout history have been inhuman and "Deists", many have been atheists. The opposite also is true.

If you know you are doing the right thing - carry on!

It isn't the way you have described it at all. It's all just misunderstanding or not understanding. Atheists do not believe in a deity and will usually have made a conscious choice and do not appreciate people trying to change their minds even if it is done out of genuine concern and love. Christians do not understand that athiests have chosen this path - they do not want religion shoved down their throat and are genuinely concerned about that person's soul and think it's just a matter of time before they find Jesus.

I have just made some pretty huge generalisations there but that is the gist of it as i see it

I'm sorry if you've been treated so badly by some Christians, but most Christians don't hate. Any that do obviously aren't following Jesus' example of love.

Although I believe differently than Atheists, I sure don't hate them or you. So try not to judge everyone by a few bad examples.

There are professional hazards associated with every thing that you practice. Your being an atheist is being in minority and you should happily accept that as a rule.

The best thing though, will be for you to understand the pros and cons of your standing as it is today. If you are hell bent on continuing with your beliefs, you shouldn't care a hoot for what othres may be feeling about you.

Hate is way too strong a word.

Perhaps pity or godly sorrow maybe. I know this is hard for you to believe (ironically, like everything else!) but we really do care for your immortal soul and your eternal destination - and this is not just something we think or believe; it is something we KNOW with 100% absolute certainty.

And if you knew the secret to eternal life, to paradise and salvation - would you keep it to yourself or share it with everyone you knew? Would you get frustrated and angry maybe even when they laughed at you, made fun of you, called you mean names - and you couldn't ever seem to get them to see the truth right there staring them in the face?!?

At any rate - no, I don't hate you. And more importantly, neither does God.

You are dead wrong. No one hates atheists. But, um, if I were you, I wouldn't go around wearing a t-shirt that says, "I am an atheist." Recently, I saw a guy who tried this. A nun "accidentally" pushed him in front of an oncoming Mac truck. I figure that if he isn't a Christian he's probably burning in Hell right about now.

My own take on the area is.... Demonization... by using demonizing that that's distinctive putting forward it evil, undesirable. distasteful, and different negatives.. those contained in the gang doing the demonizing can immediately anticipate they're the oposite... Reinforcing the gang concept that the gang is contained in the main appropriate and all others are contained in the incorrect by using default... the assumption % no longer have any helping evidence as long as those contained in the gang can persuade themselves it is real they are able to proceed to have faith it... oftentimes protecting the illusionary larger ethical floor demands immoral habit that's rationalized away as a needed evil to combat a preceived extra beneficial evil... It around good judgment strengthened by using team concept...

Normally we donot hate each other just like that. But if we want to hate we can hate anyone not particularly atheist.

If you are programmed by anyone to believe something, when irrefutable facts come along to cast doubt upon your strongly-held beliefs, you will reject them without rational consideration. Everything, even your doubts, will be seen through a filter of your original beliefs.
