Is he neutered? Sometimes cats that are not fixed will mark their terrotory. Unaltered males tend to spray also, so getting him fixed ASAP may solve the problem.
If that is not it, I would keep him out of the bedroom.
To get the smell out you need to use an enzyme based cleaner. I use Natures Miracle and it really works, but you have to follow the directions and it may take a few days for hte smell to completely disappear. You may even have to treat the spot more than once, but it really works.
My cat peed on our mattress too, it took a few cleanings but the smell and stain are gone!!
Good luck!

Our cat did the same exact thing when I brought home my daughter. He was used to getting ALL of the attention. I tried every trick in the book, and finally just kept her nursery door shut from him. I believe he was showing his displeasure at having an interloper in the house.
As far as the smell goes, the only product I have EVER seen work, and I have tried them all, is ODOBAN. You can get it at Sam's Club, and I believe I have seen it at Wal-Mart now. Beware: open the windows if you use it in concentrated form. Once you have sprayed the mattress, let it air dry for as long as you can.

Don't know how to get rid of the pee smell.. but i think you're cat is trying to say that he was here first. Sure he may be protective of the new addition.. he just wants to make his territory... let the baby know what's up..

Have all of you lived at the same time for terribly long? Did this commence when you will been there a at the same time as or did it commence once you moved in? i'm asking by way of fact while my sister have been given married her cat replaced into jealous of her husband dozing in the mattress together with her. That have been the cats place. So the cat could climb up on the headboard and loiter around over my sisters husband and gag, attempting to throw up on him. you have a jealous cat on your palms. i could say preserving the door closed is in all danger your suitable decision.

I'd say it is Territorial. Especially since there is a new member of the family as well.
As for the smell of cat urine, I'd say vinegar. I recall once with our cats a terrible smelling ointment to use to try and train the cat not to urinate in the house.. it's base was amonia.
Check out the faqs.org below.
Also can always check with your local pet store or animal shelter..

The cat sees the baby as HIS baby and will protect it. He pees to show his territory and predators won't come near him or the baby. The baby is a girl, right?

the cat is marking its territory. Odor Ban, available at Sams Club will help with the odor.

Nature's Miracle is an excellent odor and stain remover. Keep your bedroom door closed and when he cries don't come running!

some cats don't like their litter dirty at all and will pee else where until you clean up the poop, even if there is just one they will do it.
