You're damn right it's worth it. I wish I had started taking it back when I was 8, then I would've been one good fighter when I needed it back in middle school.
My black belt is like my college degree, if it was easy, then everyone would have one.
If you earn a black belt, you get a real nice belt with your name embroided, and a nice looking certificate. The real reward is not being afraid of some punk with a big mouth. After all, the guys with the biggest mouths turned out to be the worst fighters I've ever had to put up with.
Ironically, in the real world, I never had an opportunity to do a five hit combo. They all went down after a 3 hit (in one second), or a quick submission hold.

Try it for 3 months. See if you notice a difference. If you see a difference, imagine what kind of fighter you'll be after 3 YEARS!!

Is the time spent watching television worth the outcome?

It depends on what you hope to get out of it. If you want to compete in contests to earn awards you can go to an MMA school or a TKD school that focuses more on tournaments. You can also learn self defense or just get enjoyment out of it.I wrestle largely for my own amusement.

If you wanna learn to beat the crap outta people though I suggest you go to a prison exercise yard. Although bear in mind there's a good reason those guys are in prison.

Yes, 100% worth the time for all the reansons already mentioned. Plus it is a sport you can do forever and is going to have a huge payoff as you grow old.
