Yes, but don't forget those who are sad. and maybe be sensitive to their needs too.
I know if you smile it makes you happier, and even when things are bad it is good to have a laugh, but timing is sometimes quite important if you are trying to cheer someone up. It can seem very superficial if someone is going through a hard time, to say 'cheer up' or 'here's a great joke!'
