you know the little number in the center of the recycle logo on things like plastic bottles, what does it mean.
usually its a 1 or 2, but occasionlly ive seen 3's

Those numbers stand for the type of plastic. Recycling centers will sometimes limit the types of plastics they take because they can't process all types. Those numbers help everyone know which type the object is, so it can be processed properly.

1 and 2's are the most common and the ones you can recycle weekly, but the higher plastics like 6 and 7's leak less toxics into food and beverages...

it refers to the type of plastic so that it can be sorted more easily, as it is not possible to recycle all types of plastic in one go, there are different methods for each type of plastic that is commonly used for bottles and packaging.

We learned about it in Science and the number is how many times its been recycled and recreated. say i found a water bottle with the number 4 in it. that would mean its been recycled 4 times.

It indicates the type of plastic. You can often find the abbreviation under the triangle. For example, PETE or HDPE. The numbers run fron one to seven ("other").
