They´re always trying to bring me down about everything!?

Question

I am a single mom and I live with my mom and grandma. I hate living with them cuz they attack and criticize me about evetrything-about the way I look, about the way I wear my hair, about my likes, about everything. They dont respect who I am and are always attacking me for nothing. LIke today, I dyed my hair and my mother looks at me and say to me:"u look horrible!", she is so mean, there are a lot of things about her I dont lilke but I just keep my mouth shut but she is always trying to find an excuse to bash me about everything. I´m an adult now but they never understood that I am my own person why my own style and my own likings, they wanna make me be like them, if I dont think the same way they do or act the way they do or dress the way they expect me to they start attacking me and being mean.I dont know what to do I want them to stop and let them be myself anf accept who I am cuz I am for from being a child and have a kid of my own. I want them to stop, its not fair.

I would really wanna move out and been thinking of doing so for a long time now but dont have the money to do so. Salaries here are very low. They are about $300 a month.

are you sure you don't know my parents. I have not spoken to them in 39 years. I am a widow with children. I rather not talk with my parents either. no matter what I did, it was no good. when I met my husband, they wanted me to date others, but I would not. they hated my mother in law, she was more to me that my own parents. I miss my husband and mother in law. I rather live on my own, then have to live like that. find a place and move out and you will not have to put up with that anymore

Wow. You need to get away from people who always bring you down. I know about it too. Otherwise they will make you crazy. If money is low, look toward finding another job or another means of making money. In the meantime, you need to tell them that the way they speak to you is hurtful and that if they have an absolute need to comment on whatever they do to you, the least they could do is not make it seem like an attack. Or for Pete's sake, lay off and quit making you miserable.

Although salaries are low, the cost of living generally matches salaries in most areas. If not, move to another area. Set a goal and begin saving $$. Just having a goal and working toward it will help you to be able to cope with the situation because you'll know that it is temporary.

I take it as a "single mom" you did not listen to them about associations or sex either. Since it also is apparent you live in their home, you can always leave and be on your own. If not, then they have the right to not only voice their opinions but demand a certain amount of obedience to what goes on in their house.

Perhaps you should look to changing yourself as it appears not all your choices have been so great? My wise choices are not that many either. I wish my parents were alive to yell, maybe quietly, at me once more. You will miss them when they are gone. Trust me. Especially in your dreams.

The best way is to leave their house. It shows they don't respect you enough to value your opinion and let you be yourself. Keep away from them and your value will increase.
