The united states is NOT a christian nation. It is now because we have bush in office and he does not understand the meaning of a simple statement like 'seperation of church and state'. Our founding fathers were not christians and religious dominance of any religion is discrimination of the others and not much different from what is present in the middle east. A culture is judged by how it treats its weakest, its minorities and its arts.

Humanism fulfills these requirements; religion does not.

Objections to humanism, though it follows many of the concepts of "love thy neighbor", stem from religious fears of losing control over people.

In a truly free nation, religion plays no role in government.
