I knew a German jew from Bielfeld named Christian,a gay guy. He liked the name because his family liked to conceal that they were jewish - in the ethnic sense,I mean. They were non-practicing.

I knew a Jewish guy named Christian. He was born Jewish, but was adopted into a Fundamentalist Christian family, and his step-parents legally changed his name.

solid question! i'm Jewish and its humorous as a results of fact there is not any "J" sounding word interior the Hebrew alphabet. yet i think it comes from Judah. Judah became the guy that became believed to have conquered a king that doesn't enable Jews to coach there ideals. So after Judah conquered the king, they celebrated via lights one candle that burned for 7 days. it is have been Hannakhah comes from. So i assume they named the religion Jewish, after Judah. "Christ" is the Greek word for Messiah. Christians have self assurance Jesus became the Messiah so "Jesus Christ" finally ability Jesus the Messiah or Jesus the son of God. "Christ" is the rout word in "Christian" Islam comes from "Salam" the Arabic word for piece. some what ironic yet oh nicely lol.

There's technically no reason a Jewish person couldn't be named Christian. It means "the annointed one" - I know lots of mothers, Jewish or not, who think of their kids that way.
