Harvard University are developing one with a wingspan of 3cm, doesn't power itself as yet but flies.

How about buzzing around a city sending back views of the streets ahead to my mobile phone showing me places I might like to visit - or the way back to the station / hotel etc. Could save a lot of leg-work.

Covert surveillance. Rent the film "Runaway" to see. Its an old film, but lots of good techy ideas. Obviously the robots go berserk.

they could be given the ability to detect chemical signatures of explosives and sent in to a house or urban setting to find bombs.

they could sent into a collapsed mine to find if there is an ever-so-small path through to trapped miners.

as mentioned, they could be used as an inconspicuous spy drone or tracker...

MI6 have been using this technology for a while now. To look and listen. I can think of loads of other uses.
