Countries such as Cuba , Venezuela , Germany , the list goes one . These countries do not pose a threat to the US in terms of military technology , so one would imagine if the US wanted a war with them , it would be in there best interest to force the US to come to them . There they could use gurilla tactics to defeat the US , such is happening in Iraq as an example

My question - Why would the US want to invade any country , knowing most countries would use this tactic ? One would imagine the US would just bomb it from the air and not set 1 troop on the ground . Anyone agree ? Why or why not .

Actually the airbombing is very spendy. Did you know that we are now using bombs that dont have explosives in them. They are just filled with concrete. But really I do think you could virtually cut a country off like the middle ages seige tactic. We own the oceans, and regular patrols to stop land transport would be pretty effective. I doubt we would have to bomb their infrastructure. I bet we would get tagged for inhumane on it though. Not like shock and awe was very humane either.

Its true that technology has improved the Air Force. But I think it was Patton or some General like that that said.

"Its easy to take a piece of real estate from the air, but if you want to hold on to it, you have to have boots on the ground."

If we didn't have troops on the ground, Sadam would still be alive. While i like the idea of surgical air strikes, you still need troops on the ground to achieve greater success....Insurgencies can't be defeated from the air...

Bombing a entire nation from air is not practical. The mode of attack depends on several factors like geographical position, population etc..
