In some cultures snakes are highly regarded and symbolize the ability to transcend into higher levels of consciousness or into areas of knowledge that exist outside perceived time and space. In the pre-Christian days, snakes were considered symbols of fertility, healing, and nurturing (the healing serpent representing a god). Post Adam and Eve, snakes are often considered symbols of temptation and evil, anger, and envy. Snakes emerging out of the ground may represent your unconscious or repressed materials coming to your conscious mind. Freud thought that the snake was a phallic symbol. It is amazing how many people have snake dreams! Most snake dreams seem to be disturbing and they leave the dreamer feeling anxious and afraid. There are no simple interpretations to the snake dreams. Each dreamer must consider their own situation and all of the details of the dream. Sometimes snakes may be phallic symbols and other times they represent negativity in our lives that hampers our progress and constantly threatens us. In the long run the snake may be a positive symbol; it may represent difficulties that lead us to the center of personality and result in feelings of completeness.

The Psychological meaning: the snake is one of the worlds oldest symbols, found in some of the most ancient sculptures. Snakes are often used as phallic symbols and have long been linked with pagan fertility gods. Because it lives close to the ground, the snake is an emblem of the nurturing earth and also the unkown perils of the underworld. Christian imagery empahsizes the dark side of this symbol. It is considered evil, yet t is the snake, created by God, that tempts man to gain knowledge. In dreams a snake canrepresent fears. Falling into a pit of snakes may represent the many worries that are threatning you. Sometimes snakes can symbolize the poisonise words and innuendo of the people around you.
Mystical Meaning: Entwined snakes appear on the god of mercury's caducceus, which is the symbol of the mediacl profession to this day. The greeks attributed healing powers to the snake. Simialr symbolisim may be found in Indian Kundalini yoga, where it represents the life force that rises up the spinal chord. In particular, the cobra is a symbol of divine enlightment and is associated with the God Shiva.

Some people actually like snakes and are not afraid of them, others have phobias, other just don't like them, to some they are sacred. So to them a snake in a dream would mean something different to each because each has a different point of view on snakes.
So, yes, you are right. Dreams are very personal and should not be taken all that lightly.
Because they are personal, I always answer by saying, " if I had that dream..."
.
But you do know what your dream means, right?
As a metaphor, it is pretty straight forward.
Some metaphorical deams are so jumbled up, it takes much time and effort to sift through the wreak of a dream. But, there is a reason for that. Attention and acceptance on what one needs to learn next.

The boat and the searching could mean that you are looking for happiness, or a friend/partner, even if you don't know it. The white snake could be rejected purity, rejected by you (since you threw it away) The hundreds of snakes could be undreds of feelings, and the cobra could be an opposing force. the trower of stones is your friend, a person, or animal, who you love and who loves you, who is willing to risk evil for you. The men are your future friends, not neccesarily those men, but once again, a person or animal that you love and loves you. Good luck, Serra

hey ive had dreams about snakes before they can mean many things. either you saw a commerical or a movie where a snake appeared. most people say dreams are events that happened int hat day and thoughts all jumbled together. My cousins has a book of dremas and in it.. it says whenever you dream of snakes are are worried bout somebody close to you.... or some thing is troubling you and the four men and the boat play factors into it also. but remember its just a dream. calm down take deep breathes, and before you go to sleep at night lay down take deep breathes and think of good things that make you laugh and smile. dont let your worries come to you right before you go to bed. you'll find you'll have more pleasent dreams. good luck and hope you dont have anymore distressing dreams.

omg i HAVE STUDIED PSYCHOLOGY and the answer to this problem is that your going to be in alot of unpleasant surprises. anyways all the "holy" books interpret snakes as evil creatures sent by the devil. i urge u to stay out of any relationships you might be having doubts on. when you said that someone beside me was stoning the snake then it means that your not alone that some is there to protect you.
basically when your in RMS your everyday problems keep your mind busy trying to find a solution even while your sleeping., so it possible that some thing is bothering you it might just be you trusting or not trusting someone.

In classic dream interpretation, snakes represent sexual feelings. In this view, you would seem to have some mixed feelings about sex, as represented by first swimming toward the snake but then being frightened of it. The snakes fighting may indicate that you are torn between two or more men in your life. The identities of the four men with you may offer some clues.
