If it is puppy mange (not just puppies get it - it is due to a weakened immune system), it will go away on its own most of the time. If it doesn't and you do not have a herding breed (most have a genetic intolerance), it can be treated orally with injectable Ivermectin (available at feed stores for about $40 a bottle). This is what most vets now use but you'll have to call a vet to get the proper dosage. Scabies needs treatment and is contagious to humans. Call a vet and ask if there are any affective over the counter treatments (there are a lot but I suspect most are junk).

What kind of mange? Sarcoptic or Demodex? Demodex is usally a sign of a weak immune system and can be overcome with a well balanced diet and stress free environment. You can pick up a salve from the pet store to treat the spots. Sarcoptic mange require vet treatment.
Mitaban should only be ued in extremme cases as it is toxic and can make you dog more ill. It is a known carcenogenic

Let me guess you have a white dog??? It might even be a pit.
This is very common with white dogs. I have a white AMSTAFF. he had mange. It is not very expensive to have it treated.. Treatment will consist of 3 midaban dips this is a bath with very strong antibiotics.. It does not hurt the dog but it takes allot of energy out of them he will be very tired when you get him home. He will be at the vet for the day. The cost is about 50 dollars per dip but they are spaced out. You dog will look like a hairless cat if you don't get it treated. Good Luck. And don't try anything at home!!!

Call your local animal shelter and ask for the low cost vet in your area. You cannot treat mange at home. You need actual medicine from a vet.

Stop the crap and excuses. If you cannot properly care for your pet then you have no right to have one at all. What in the hell did you get a dog for if you knew you couldn't afford the care? It is his RIGHT by law to receive proper care and to deny it is abuse.

Get a second job if you have to, or find a vet that will take monthly payments. They do exist, and if you'd even bothered to get up off your butt and make the effort, you'd know that. If you can afford a monthly cell phone bill, new shoes, or a pizza, then you can afford a visit to the vet. It's all a question of priorities.

Mange CAN kill. One of the advantages of veterinary skill nowadays is the ability to prescribe the proper drug and the proper dosage and to follow through on the care! YOU are not qualified. No "home remedies" please.

TO THE VET!

search google for "home mange treatment" and other phrases like that. You'll get lots of options from things to try or things to buy. I hope your dog gets better!
