I recently gained weight after I stopped running and I need to slim down some. So I'm wondering if skipping meals is going to make my lose weight or gain weight. Among other things that I'm doing to slim down are cutting back on what I eat and exercising some.

Skipping meals is likely to trip your body into famine mode. If your metabolism gets the idea that food is becoming scarce, it will respond by hoarding every calorie it can grab, which will result in long term weight gain. It would be more effective to keep an eye on your calorie intake, and avoid empty calorie foods, or foods high in sugars or fats.

Skipping meals will make you lose weight in the short run but make you gain weight in the long run.

The less you eat now, the more you end up binging later on.

You have to eat the same size of food about 5 to 7 times a day. Your stomach is the size of your fist so your portions should be no bigger than that. When you stay on a schedule such as this one. Your body will not store anything thing causing weight gain because it knows food is coming and when. Sorta like programming your body.

When you miss meals you throw off your system so your body holds on to food and stores it for energy later because it never knows when or how much it will get.

Try cutting down the portion sizes or number of calories in the food you are eating. Skipping meals is never good. You tend to overeat when you do eventually eat because you are so hungry. Keep in mind too that when you don't eat at all or don't eat enough for extended periods, your body will go into "starvation mode" and retain all the calories you eat. When you start to eat normally again you will rapidly gain weight as your body is still in starvation mode.

Skipping meals will eventually lead to wait gain because you will tend to eat more at your next sitting. Your best solution is to eat more small measured meals each day, this way you won't feel so hungry and be tempted to eat more than you should.

Skipping meals can make you gain weight because your body starts to seek out any kinds of fat or nutrients that it can get and it stores them all. It is really really good for you to drink a ton of water because it replaces the fat cells in your body if you drink enough and it makes you feel fuller. I would just suggest trying to drink more water and cutting out certain unhealthy foods that you really like, but not all of them.

Eating small healthy snacks during the day is better than skipping a meal. Your metabolism is constantly working to digest small healthy snacks. Drinking cold water is suppose to help keep the metabolism in gear as well. When you skip a meal, your metabolism is more at rest.
