i have some great advice but only if you are receptive to it. medications are great if you are truly depressed....however....you have to also adjust your lifestyle....eat a healthy diet, exercise and avoid things that contribute to depression like alcohol/drugs and a diet high in sugar and carbs. sounds so simple but it will help your mood i promise.

The best thing will be to talk to your doctor. A lot of times there might be a better depression medication for you. The only way for your doctor to find out is to get a feedback from you. Some medication work much, much better than others. Depression is usually caused by chemical imbalance - low levels of the hormone serotonin. By taking your medication your serotonin levels normalize. So I would say take it in the morning that way your medication will work during the day.

Try to combine your medication with exercise and some physical activity. Try to change some routines in your life - make appointments with family and/or friends to get out more often, get a gym membership or consider walking where you can meet people.

The only advise I can give you is - TODAY is the first day of the rest of your life. Enjoy every minute of it. Go for the things you always wanted to do but for some reason you thought that there was an obstacle in your way. Start by collecting information and do at least one of those things. That will make you feel so much better. Good luck!

If the medication isn't working, talk to your doctor about it and change the prescription to a drug that will work. I suffered from depression a few years ago, but I worked it out myself with no meds, so I can't be of much help. Sorry!

If you don't want to take the meds, then don't! Unless you're suicidal and have chronic depression, you can work these things out yourself. However, if the doctor says you really need to take 'em, take 'em. The doc knows what he's talking about.

Depression is a horrible thing, and I hope you get through it. Best advice I can give you is keep your chin up, and don't let things get you down. This life goes too fast for you to get sad about too many things. But don't feel bad about feeling bad! You need a nice balance between the two.

Make sure you have taken the drug long enough to make a difference. If it still isn't working, go to the Dr. and try another. Over the years, I have been successful with some but not others, and over time, I think they all stop working as well as they once did. Lexapro is the best for me right now. The advice about lifestyle change is a very good idea, as well as something like Yoga which has helped me a lot.

You need to go back to the doctor and let them know how you are feeling it could be a side effect to the medication, sometimes it takes trying a couple of different medications to get the one that best suits you with minimal side effects. I would do it straight away if I was you, don't mess around thinking it might get better. If after taking medication for several days and you still don't feel right go straight back to your doctor and explain how it has been making you feel, goodluck and all the best!

What helped me through my anxiety and depression was mental reprogramming. Anxiety is based on fear. Fear of the future. fear of the next minute, and sometimes living in fear of now. We need not fear the future, because nothing happens like we predict. And when I worry about the future, I am doing nothing to change it. But when I stay content in the moment, That will affect the future, positively. This really works. Depression is usually regrets and remorse for things that are in the past. But the past is no longer real. it was real when it was present. When can't change the past, but we can forgive ourselves and use the past as a lesson. Always be easy on yourself. We are but human and prone to human mistakes. Someone once told me that if I am standing one foot in the future and one foot in the past, then I am in perfect position to crap all over today. And how I feel and what I do today will affect the future. This is an awesome book to read for these problems, it will enlighten you. The Power of Now , by Eckhard Tolle....get the condensed version. Also A New Earth , by the same auther. I wish you the best, e-mail me if you have any questions.

it really depends what you are taking... like i took zoloft and it didnt make me happy, it just made my not give a **** about anything or anybody. On the other hand their in one called Lexapro that a friend of mine takes and she is actually happier with that. So, i would say; maybe you should talk to the doc a little more about all the differant meds. Try www.webmd.com. You can look up meds on there and it will tell you what they make you feel. Good Luck! I kow what you are going through!

I don't like taking medication that makes me feel different either. Good communication between you and your health care provider is the best way to solve medication issues.

Good luck!

How long have you been on them? Because it can take up to 4 weeks to feel better. If you have been on them longer than that and still feel bad, you need to go back to your Doctor and try something else. Good luck.
