The book of Job was a testament to Job's faith. Satan was so convinced that he was able to destroy Job's faith but God said he could do no such thing. His family, his friends, his household everything was destroyed, his health was even destroyed! But in the end the Lord healed him and gave him much more than what he even had before, proving him to be a true servant of the Lord.

There is no book of Joseph, so I don't understand what your reference is? If you are concerned about the theme of Justice, forcus on Exodus to start. This is where the Laws of Moses come into play, as they were told to Moses by God. They are detailed and thorough. Also pay close attention to the different sacrifices and ceremonies the Israelites were to do. These were all fulfilled by Jesus. So when you read these, understand their purpose and see how Jesus fulfilled them, you will have a better understanding of Justice and God's Law and Love.

OT was eye for an eye justice. It was works based and it was no nonsense. Job merited his faith yes. God specifically suggested Job to Lucifer because He knew Job was faithful. Joseph merited his because of the amazing trials he went through over the course of years...and he was obedient to suffer them and emerge as the one who would save the people of Israel from death by famine.

The book of Job, his name means persecuted, and some say it is the oldest book.

There is no book of Joseph or do you mean Joshua.

Faith is the only way to please God.

Heb 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

God's purpose in giving man the Law was simply to teach him a lesson - that being that Adam had royally screwed up in obtaining the knowledge of good and evil. No man can keep God's law. No man can consistently determine what is good from what is evil - no one but God!

And that is why He sent Jesus - to rescue us from the law and FROM OURSELVES. Through Jesus God restored our innocence in His holy eyes.
