My friend is running away, now her mom owns the car yet gave her the car. Can they report the car stolen?
What can she do to put it in her name so she does not get in trouble?
She IS on the insurance shes not on title of the car.
Legally

If she is not the owner of the car legally (which means that she is not on the title) the legal owner can report that the car was taken without authorization. The police will look for the car!

The only way she can get her name on the title is to have the legal owner (mom in this case) sign the title over to her. If she is planning on running away, I have to assume that mom would not be willing to do so!

She is better off staying home and working out the problems!!

There's no way of transferring the title without her mother's signature; if her mother wants to retrieve her daughter (or the car) all she has to do is report it stolen (she'll need to file a police report stating that her daughter knowingly and willfully took the car without permission). Sorry. Good luck!

yes...your friend will be arrested for grand theft auto....regardless if she is on the insurance or not. she can only transfer the car's title through her mother. not going to happen.
