In short:
"Eff you for letting a talking snake convince you to eat a tasty apple. Put some clothes on, will you?"

Childbirth will hurt like heck instead of painless due to Eve's sin. Without pain one won't bring children into the world. Even though it will pain you to have children. You will still have a sexual desire for your husband afterward. God meant for the husband to be the head of the household. It is just basis and as plain as it seems-I think.

It also implies that, perhaps, Adam and Eve had children before Cain since the pains of childbearing could not have been increased had she never given birth before (the Bible doesn't actually say that Cain was the first kid, perhaps he is just the first one recorded).

The pain in childbearing is a fact. Some probably
don't believe this because God said it first in his word.
The desire of the woman has always been to dominate man. This is the longing of women. It
is in their heart to out do man in everything he
attempts to do.Sports,man's jobs,military,hunting,education,Presidency,etc.

It's an explanation that the pains of childbirth are a punishment stemming from the sin of Eve. It also justifies the patriarchal system of historic Jewish/Hebrew culture.

These are the consequences of the original sin.
The original sin is the reason we are in this world. This world is an exile. We are not where God is. Hence, we suffer from illnesses, pain, death, ...etc.
This exile will end, and we will live with God forever. This is because of Christ's sacrifice

It was punishment for the original sin. If she hadn't eaten of the forbidden fruit, she and all women would have had pain free child birth, and women were destined to be ruled by men as a result.
I seem to recall that was also when God sentenced women to have a monthly "cycle" as well.

There were consequences to the actions of Satan, Adam and Eve. These were Eve's consequences. Like it or not, accept it and move on. God does NOT tolerate sin and disobedience.

This was the punishment on Eve for her rebellion against God and her sin of tempting Adam.
Had she not done this she would have experienced painless childbirth when the time came to procreate humanity, she would have not lost her itegrity over her sexual passions and finally she would not have depended on Adam to live.

As punishment for initiating the Original Sin, God punished females to feel pain during childbirth and to be subservient to her husband.
