We've decided to try to get rid of our '93 Ford Taurus SHO just sitting in the corner of our drive way. But the problem is where? It has an oil leak that would need to have the whole engine taken out to repair, and the water pump...i think doesn't work either. It still starts good and everything. It's also fully equipped with all of the automatics that you could get for one. It has a premium sound system and automatic headlights. My parents think that it's just trash and they want to give it away for free for parts. But i think you could get a goods money worth out of it. Where should we take it? and would anyone know how much it could be worth? Thanks

those sho motors are a real pain to work on. the cost to r&r the motor is expensive about 12 to 16 hours labor time average labor $80.00 per hour cost up to $1600

then the cost of parts

depending how many miles and the overall condition of the vehicle. I doubt you will find anyone willing to pay 2000.00 for that car. you could part it out to a wrecking yard and maybe get $500,00 max if the body is good.

check kelly blue book for the value and make a decision that way. good luck

That is a vehicle that has a specific market. The Ebay references are correct, if it still runs, it is saleable. Someone will buy it even if it has a few problems. What seems like a large job to remove the transmission to repair a rear main seal oil leak, might be worth the effort to someone else. Start the selling price high, you can always come down, but can't go up.

You could try parting it out, if you think it's worth the hassle. Personally, since it is nearly twenty years old, I think you probably won't get that much for it. I would think about donating it to a charitable organization that will give you a receipt for it so you can take a portion of the amount as a tax deduction. Other than that, you could put it up for sale as a "mechanic's special" (again, you won't get near what you think it's worth!). Good luck!

If you need a new oil drip pan, it could be $200-300 for the repair. But I thought only Dodge cars leaked oil. DODGE = Drips Oil, Drops Grease Everywhere.

if the only thing thats wrong with it is the water pump and oil leak (depending on how bad the oil leak is), you could sell it for $1,000 or so.

it's considered a mechanics special..... you could get a few bucks for it on ebay motors...... so long as you mention what's wrong and request a local pick-up only

I had one and loved it. Send me a message and tell me where you live, as I may be interested in it.
