Just for future reference, concerning i may need to end up swapping out my 250K+ 4.0 SOHC engine. Would an '02 Explorer engine fit my 1999? What about an '01?

Just wondering cause, someone suggested that i look at late '01s-'02, because ford failed to fix the Timing Chain issues with the 98- early 01 engines

You may have to use the intake manifold off the old 99 engine but that's not a problem. The rest should be all the same. (Some sensors and fuel injection may be different.) I don't have my Hollander book to look it up for you but I just wanted to make that suggestion so you will know what to look for when you do the swap. If you buy the engine from a good salvage yard they will be able to fill you in on those kinds of details.

Yes, it should fit without a problem. If your car is an SOHC model, then you won't even need a new computer.

Should fit. Mechanically there will be no problem, and you could probably just hook up the sensors and ECU that you already have.
