If you are not Jehovah's Witness and you feel compelled to answer this, no hate.

Okay, i admit. I have come up with more and more creative ways to get you guys off my front porch. One time, someone asked for my parents, and I went screaming "I don't HAVE parents" and shut the door.

But because of that, I don't know what you guys believe that's so different' from "standard" Christianity. Can you enlighten me?

Jehovah's Witnesses believe in the scriptures, Christ Jesus and preaching about God's kingdom.

They believe and teach what Jesus taught rather then the Roman Empire/Church adopted after Christ died.

Because Jehovah's Witnesses will not adopted the same pagan beliefs that originated from Egypt as the major churches have done they are labeled by them as a 'cult' to scare people in believing they will go to a fiery hell.

I was very interested and was talking to a JW colleague last year and instead of trying to Bible bash me she left a little book explaining all the beliefs on my desk with a note. The beliefs are quite different.

I would suggest you go to their website - google watchtower and there is probably a section on that

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses. For a comprehensive description of our beliefs it is best to ask one of us in real life, Bible in hand. You could also go to http://www.watchtower.org.

Honestly, I don't know what you consider "standard" Christianity.

Simple basics, we believe in Jehovah, that he sent his son, Jesus down to Earth.

An even simpler basic, we believe in being kind to others, and trying to be good people.

Jehovah's Witnesses are relatively unique among self-described Christians in that they understand the Scriptures to teach that God's Kingdom by Christ Jesus is a real government which will soon replace all earthly governments.
(Daniel 2:44) God of heaven will set up a kingdom... It will crush and put an end to all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand to times indefinite

That Kingdom will rule over the vast majority of mankind, most of whom will have been raised from the dead after Armageddon.
(John 11:23,24) Jesus said to her: “Your brother will rise.” Martha said to him: “I know he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
(Acts 24:15) There is going to be a resurrection of both the righteous and the unrighteous.

Until that resurrection, there is no suffering in "hell", or the grave. Sometime after the resurrection, death and "hell" will themselves be destroyed.
(Ecclesiastes 9:5) For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all
(Ecclesiastes 9:10) there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol ["hell"]
(Revelation 20:14) And death and Hades ["hell"] were hurled into the lake of fire

While a limitted number of humans will be resurrected to heaven to share in ruling over mankind, the vast majority (literally more than 99.9%) of Jehovah's Witnesses expect an EARTHLY hope, the same hope given to Adam and Eve.
(Genesis 1:28) God blessed them and God said to them: “Be fruitful and become many and fill THE EARTH and subdue it [caps added]
(Genesis 2:17) You must not eat from it, for in the day you eat from it you will positively die [so never eating from that tree means never dying]

Interestingly, the Scriptures are full of references to this earthly hope.
(Psalms 37:11) 'the meek will possess the earth'
(Proverbs 2:21) 'upright will reside in the earth'
(Isaiah 45:18) 'God formed the earth to be inhabited'
(Matthew 5:5) 'the mild will inherit the earth'
(Revelation 21:3) The tent of God is with mankind

I studied with the JWs for 4 years and believed what I was told until I started praying and asking God for truth and something AMAZING happened to me.

I grew up in a baptist church and later became a Seventh Day Adventist, studied with the Jehovah Witness for 4 years and while living in Dallas Mormons came knocking at my door and I finally began to talk to God and said enough! I did not want anyone else telling me they had truth. I told God if He wanted me to know truth, he would have to show me truth not anyone else. While living in Dallas I would listen to endtime ministries. I ended up moving to Garland, Tx and while passing a church that was across the street from my apt. I seen a sign that regarding endtime ministries, so I went in one Tuesday evening where a gentlemen (Bro. Johnny) was playing the videos by endtime ministries and I continued to go. One evening they played a video about being born-again (receiving the Holy Spirit, speaking in tongues) and I thought these people are out of their minds, wacko, crazy, you get where I am coming from. So I questioned Bro. Johnny and He assured me this was real and He invited me to attend the Sunday morning service where a visiting pastor would be speaking on receiving the Holy Spirit (speaking in tongues). So that Sunday morning I attended. The pastor invited all those that wanted the Holy Spirit to come down front, so I said Jesus I just want to know truth. The pastor told all those that wanted God's Spirit to say Hallelujah and I did and the second time I said it something amazing was transpiring, I was speaking in tongues. It is REAL!

The JWs are wonderful people, but have no truth and have made many false predictions that have never come to pass, per the Bible this would make you a FALSE prophet.

Always ASK GOD FOR TRUTH AND NEVER PEOPLE. HE WILL LEAD YOU INTO ALL TRUTH. Read the Bible and pray! See Acts 2:38! Acts 19:2, Mark 16:17, ESPECIALLY Luke 11:13, Romans Chapter 8 all regarding the Holy Spirit!

Next time, talk to them.

People base opinions on JW's based on hearsay or untruths they hear from other people, but have never asked a JW for themselves.

If JWs come to my door and preach their gospel from their altered bible, then I am quite happy to strike up a conversation with them from my own KJV Bible. This has two advantages, firstly they get to hear the truth concerning Jesus Christ and secondly while they are on my doorstep receiving the gospel they are not bothering any one else.
I have learn't not to invite them in as their next move is they will try to arrange a meeting in your home.
