...couldn't I hook you up to a brain scanning device, wait until you have a "god feeling", find out what specific neurotransmitters are firing in what area, and then stimulate this part of your brain manually to make you feel god?

Scientists are already doing this with other senses like taste, feeling and even memories. By stimulating areas of the brain, people can experience tastes without eating, sensations without being touched, and memories without actually thinking of the events.

I could conceivably implant a small electrical stimulator in your brain, and then by pushing a car alarm keyfob, make you experience god over and over, AND YOU WOULDN'T KNOW THE DIFFERENCE.

Amazing how this just goes over the heads of theists.

The point is, IF THE FEELING is caused by chemicals in your brain, THEN IT'S NOT GOD!

"If they speak not according to this Word, it is because there is no light in them." God still performs miracles, but it is not His Will to heal EVERYONE. What would that accomplish? How would that strengthen their character? My mother is currently dying of a 20-year struggle with a severe form of MS. Her body is shutting down. I have been praying for years now that if it be in God's Will to heal her, that He would do so. The end of her life is now imminent, and I have accepted that it is not God's Will to heal her at this time. But my mother's body is so far gone, if He were to heal her, He would have to give her a completely new body - make her into her youthful self again. But why do that now, when she will be resurrected back to life in that very same youthful body when Christ returns soon anyway? It would be an unnecessary healing. I have just learned to trust God, no matter what, especially since I can't see the future, and I lack His wisdom. Let His Will be done, not mine.

haha, that's so stupid...
Please, just plug me back into my gooey little pink tank and continue to use my energy to power the AI... Ha ha, sorry if I'm not funny; I just watched the Matrix again, and I feel like I stepped through a time portal (that movies old, but still good).
Anyways, that explanation was for anyone who's never seen the matrix.
My answer is this: How in the hell could we possibly break through this control? They would not haphazardly implant these devices in people, everyone would get one at birth.
But I think this was supposed to be a hypothetical question, wasn't it?
Be more clear, I'm very literal.

I see once again you are plagued by the stupidity of the average Religious human. nobody even considers your proposal. I would like to see for once a believer answer one of your questions with careful consideration, not make a mockery and restate irrelivant bible passages.

I'd hope it would go something like this.
" You know I never really considered what the feeling actually was, I suppose it's not really that reliable is it?, Good question, It would seem as though my bases for knowing God is there is unstable, so how can I be so Sure that he exists when I'm going off of something that is merely regulated by chemicals in my brain, and my personal wants?"

It's kind of Crazy that none of them can actually look outside the box and Consider what they are Actually doing. They can only poke fun, and repeat bible passages like a puppet on a string.... Poor idiots :\

Some would say that we can use feelings to measure truth. In the natural world, we can see infants and youth led astray by feelings. Adults and teenagers make wrong choices for mates based upon feelings. This is what the Bible say's about feelings:

Hebrews 5: MKJV
13 For everyone partaking of milk is unskillful in the word of righteousness, for he is an infant.
14 But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, even those who because of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

What the Bible is showing us is, that only those who are mature can use their senses to know what is good and evil. A person cannot use his senses or emotions to judge if something is from God until they are mature and have already discovered the highest method or standard to find God. So we can conclude that the senses are not the highest standard.

Incorrect, we would indeed know the difference. Serotonin and other brain chemicals that are released in response to various stimuli, one being an ecstatic response to a spiritual event. Our minds, our emotions and our spirits are involved and all are stimulated in response to specific criteria. If you were to hook us up and push a button, say in the grocery store, our rational minds would realize that this is an inappropriate "feeling" for the situation. If you did it in the context of a religious experience, how would you differentiate between feelings for God and artificial stimulation.

That being said, "feeling" God is a poor descriptive to our situation. While we do indeed have feelings about God, mostly we are aware of our inherent need of Him, our desperate sinful situation, and His sole sacrifice to free us from sin and death and hell. No biological or scientific method could alleviate this predicament.

Heheh, sounds like a good gag gift.

Especially here in Vegas

When does that keyfob come out again?

or we could ruin the part of the brain that creates that feeling and make the world a bunch of atheists ^_^

you can also stimulate parts of your mind by choice. i do that to start tripping or get high without doing it. but i prefer doing the actual drug so i rarely do that anyway.

Dude I'm gonna give you a elementary answer. Non-hypothetically speaking.. I will
go through my life beliving in God the Creator. and you go through your life living in the matrix electronic world. with your side boards or whatever. and when I die there is no God I will know will I.? ,however when you die and there is a God you will know. so I think it's safer to say choose God you've got nothing to lose....

If it was just a feeling it would have died long ago since feelings come and go. This is merely a word some choose to try and explain their experience. It would be more accurate to compare it to unveiled sight.

it's true the brain is not fully understood, but it does appear to obey the law of conservation of energy. and which structures are the soul recievers?
