Go right to the source: www.churchofsatan.com. Read the essays there in the theory/practice section.
Also pick up a copy of "The Satanic Bible" by Anton Szandor LaVey. It's a very inexpensive paper back and most major stores carry it.
Before the Church of Satan and The Satanic Bible, there was absolutely no religion in the world called "Satanism". You had aristrocrats now and then that threw the occasional "Black Mass" just for the sake of blasphemy and Saturday night entertainment. And there have also been people who became devil worshipers, styling themselves directly after Christian church propaganda or tacky horror movies. But again, nothing that could be called an actual religion, complete with a philosophy applicable to real life.
So beware of the bored devil-worshipping teenagers who throw up a website just to spite mommy and daddy, or groups that get labeled as Satanists when in fact they call themselves something else (e.g. Thelemites who follow the works of Crowley, Temple of Set members who now call themselves 'Setians', etc.).

Depends if you mean theistic or LaVeyan.
Me and my fiance are LaVeyan, despite CONSTANT attempts to "cleanse us of our spiritual disease"....
I've never actually looked it up, but try Wikipedia, they usually have loads about religions and chair-making and everything under the sun.
LaVeyanism is basically the worship of oneself rather than any gods or, as the name misleads, Satan. There ARE rules, which I would usually be a bit iffy about, but they're things I've followed all my life.
It's definately the right religion for some people and for others it just doesn't work!
I hope all goes well! Any questions you have, don't hesitate to contact me.

No bashing at all I promise. I just have never met a Satanist that really believed in Satan. Do you believe he really is a force?
