I take 1 mg Klonopin as needed for anxiety and, according to scientific research, is equal to two 10 mg Valiums. This is a very potent anti-anxiety medication, but for some reason, it tends to elevate my heart rate. Before taking it, my pulse was at about 72 b.p.m., but an hour after having taken it, my pulse has jumped up to 108 b.p.m. Also, my hands feel cold and clammy. Normally, this would cause me to freak out, but I am very relaxed right now so I'm not too worried. Is this a side effect of the drug? I couldn't seem to find anything on the internet telling me so, so I would like your advice. And yes, it is my prescription. God Bless.

well, i've taken Klonapin for several yrs. & it's cousin Xanax. never happened to me. but when i looked up the side effects of it, yes, it is mentioned, i didnot know that!

possible side effects most likely are: drowsiness, poor muscle control,& behavioural changes.

less likely: abnormal eye movements, loos of voice & or the ability to express a thought.,double vision, coma??????,a glassy-eyed appearance?, headache, temprorary paralysis, labored breathing, shortness of breath, slurred speech, tremors????dizziness, fainting, confusion, depression, forgetfulness, hallucianation, increased sex drive, hysteria, sleeplessness, psychosis, suicidal acts, chest congestion, stuffy nose, HEART PALPITATIONS, hair losss or gain, rash, swelling of the face or ankles , increase or decrease in appetite of body weight, coated tongue, constipation, diarrhea, involuntary passing of feces, dry mouth, stomach irritation, nausea, sore gums, difficulty urinating, pain upon urination, bed-wetting, neghttime urination, muscle weakness or pain, reduced red & white blood cell & platelet levels? enlarged liver, liver inflammation, dehydration, a deterioration in general health, fever & swollen lymph glands !!!!!!! oh, man, i gotta get off this stuff!

& the depressant effects of clonazepam are increased by transquilizers, sleeping pills, narcotic pain relievers, antihistamines, alcohol, monamine oxidase inhibitors(mao) , tricyclic antidepressantrs, & other antidepressants. WOW!!!!

Try another one , there's tons out there, the elivil types?

Maybe youre allergic to that particular class of benzodiazepines. If you can take valium & not have a reaction to it, maybe there is another one that wont bother you.

Please go back to ;yo;ur dr & counselor & tell them.

This may be obvious but speak to the person who prescribed the medication. I cannot find anything on this possible side effect of Klonopin either. Best bet see your doctor!
