Ruined by protester who justified this with signs like "God hates America" Is this somehow the in thing to defile soldiers funerals & feel good about it?

It was a disgrace and no one calling themselves Christian could support such a thing.

Sadly, some people are just like that. They should be smacked for it, there's no reason to bother people at a funeral mourning for someone they love. That was the WBC, they're a sick family church that does nothing good.
Did you her that the US wouldn't let a soldier be buried with a pentacle on his gravestone? How sad that the US would allow crosses in their cemetaries, but not a pentacle.

I think protesting at a soldier's funeral is a very unchristian thing to do.
It goes against the Christian spiritual works of mercy to console and comfort and the corporal work of mercy to bury the dead.
There are times and places for peaceful demonstrations but a soldier's funeral is not one of them.

Only one church in the US does that..
They have been sued and the people were given a big judgment against them for pain and suffering caused at their son's funeral. It is pretty ridiculous to do this at someone's funeral.
If they want to protest there are a lot of other places to do it than at a funeral. Very sad situation.

Fred Phelps and his family church. He believes that killing is a huge sin, therefore, by going to war, America is sinning and soldiers are doing a whole lot of sinning. He thinks they die because god is smiting them I suppose.
Also he hates gay people. Big surprise.

to correct the person above me, they don't say "God hates America" because they're against war, they say that because they "believe that the US is new new Babylon becuase of their acceptance of gay (and whatnot) therefore God must go against us like Soddom and Gomorrah"
