Allan C, oh don't give me that. Bible-fundies should back-up their EVERY claim with the Bible verses since they keep on accusing other religion of teaching things that are not in the Bible. why can't they back-up the "Personal relationship with Jesus" doctrine with the Bible verse now?
do you want to give you the answer?
the answer to that question is simple, that doctrine is unbiblical.

Like many other things said about Christianity and the bible, it simply isn't there.
The entire concept of a "personal relationship" with Yahweh is a 20th century invention with no basis in either the bible or the history of the church.

Matthew 6
9 In this manner, therefore, pray:
Our Father in heaven,
Hallowed be Your name.
10 Your kingdom come.
Your will be done
On earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread.
12 And forgive us our debts,
As we forgive our debtors.
13 And do not lead us into temptation,
But deliver us from the evil one.
God is our Father.
We are to call Him Father.
To me the "Father" implies a personal relationship.

"Personal Relationship" certainly is a man-made phrase. But there are many verses in the Bible that describe this "personal relationship"....
Jesus, who makes people holy, and those who are made holy are from the same family. So he is not ashamed to call them his brothers and sisters. (Hebrews 2:11)
The word "brethren" is the word "a-del-phos" and means a brother or near kinsman. It means children in the same family. It means a likeness in being one together.
1 Peter 1:22, describes the love as "unfeigned" love, meaning love that is not pretended, but genuine.
These verses give us incite into the special relationship we have in Christ and with those of Christ's family. This is certainly a personal relationship.

I'm going to go with the ever popular,, "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Begotten Son, that whosoever believes in Him, should not persish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16.

Whether it's in the Bible or not, wouldn't you have to accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior to be saved? In order to do this wouldn't you have to have a relationship with him?
