You are not supposed to change it out until it has been pierced for 3-12 months, depending on how much cartilage you got pierced (as in where you got it pierced). That is the proper length for it to heal.

Read the link provided. It gives you all the information you could possibly ask for.

Wow, people like Alexis shouldn't be answering piercing questions - because obviously she knows nothing.

A piercing is a hole in your body, not a scratch.

A properly cleaned nostril piercing should take average 3-6 months to fully heal. You shouldn't be changing the jewelry AT ALL, but if its an emergency go ask your local piercer to change it for you.

If its a septum piercing, it should take average 2 months to heal.

DO NOT put any healing medicines onto your piercing i.e. Neosporin.

Your looking at around a month before changing it, bare minimum, even then it should be your piercer changing it, not you. Id recommend waiting 3 months though.
As for cleaning it, a very mild saline solution or just clean water, as the nose can be very sensitive. Clean twice a day, and continue as long as you wish to have a clean face, avoid putting makeup over it as it can cause a lot of irritation.
Hope that helps

Its different for every person. Keep it clean and if you don't develope a bump under it i'd say give it another 2 weeks and go back to the peircer and ask them to change it out. Its still pretty early for a peircing, since not everyone heals real fast. But at that stage if you want it changed out you really should ask your peircer, they should do it for free, unless you buy new jewelery from them.

Actually, you're both correct in different ways. Over cleaning can totally mess up your piercing. You should probably clean it for a MAXIMUM of two weeks. Any more, and you could seriously damage it!

You should put some cream or antibiodics and it should take minimum of 2-5 days.
