if you are heart healthy exercising in the "fat burning" zone is an antiquated and outdated training philosophy that has been proven not to be optimum for fat loss. performing interval training at maximum effort will cause the greatest increase in the resting metabolic rate, where real fat loss occurs not during exercise. this would equate to training at around 80% of the VO2max for 80 minutes using a combination of resistance training and cardio 4-5x a week.

To find out what your heart should be when exercising you should subtract 180 from your age, and about 30 minutes a day, but before you do any of that unless you've already done so you should consult with your doctor before starting any exercse program.
