To meet new people? Meet up with friends? Both? If people use it just to talk to their friends, why do you need to tell them what you are like by filling in the about me section?

Most people are dodging my last point. If you're not using myspace to meet new people, then why do those people need to tell all their friends what they are like? Angelina wrote "The about me section is for others who are friends with me but we don't really know each other as well." Ok, so a friend can be someone who doesn't really know you as well? I guess it all has to do with what we consider a friend, its kind of a generic term.

To be known by others
To meet new people
To find old friends
To show something (your good looks, your artistry, etc.)
To advertise something
To find a date
To trick people to admire you (putting false pic, etc.)
To find others who have similar hobbies

and so on, and so on. I can keep going on, but I don't think i should.

A little bit of everything. I got on there when I found some old high school friends; it was great to see what everyone looks like now, their families, and what they're like. You can also use it to meet people with similar interests; I play World of Warcraft, so I've met some fellow gamers on there. I can also keep up to date with local bands.

I believe its to meet new people, talk to your friends, or Find old friends.... and it seems here lately no matter where you go on the internet.... Everything seems to have an about me section... Some sites just word it differently

All of those. But if you're in high school, the real reason is to be cool weather they want to admit it ot not. All their friends have one so they want to fit in.

Adults I'm not so sure.

Rapists, well, to find little kids and rape them...
(That's why I've nicknames myspace to rapespace lol)

I use it to talk to friends and meet new bands/people.
The about me section is for others who are friends with me but we don't really know each other as well. And for others who care to know.

My boyfriend used his to stay connected to all of his "old hook-ups" personally, I think myspace is a relationship killer.
