I'm on the fence when it comes to Christianity. I have been on a quest to prove God is real and one piece of evidence I'm having a hard time denying is the bible.
The new testament specifically. It was written some 2000 years ago, by a bunch of "common" men. Yet nothing about it can be dis-proven. Oprah, or Al Gore writes a book 2 years ago and half of it is dis-proven a week later. Get where I'm going here?
Specifically the book of Revelation. Sure, some say the predictions are vague in nature, BUT NOTHING CAN BE 100% PROVEN TO BE WRONG. In fact, most is shown to be quite accurate. How do you explain this? Many things in the book of Revelation were not even known at that time, yet they accurately predicted them?
So tell me one thing in the bible that has absolutely 110% been proven wrong? Not "KINDA SORT OF WRONG," like I always see here, but wrong to a point it is provable. It really should be quite easy if you think that almost every book written has stuff wrong in it?

anitari, sure you're right, but come on man. this is a book chalk full of soooooooooooooooooooo many topica and a wide array of dead on bold prediction, yet not one thing can be proven wrong????????Hello, and not to mention IT WAS WRITTEN 2000 YEARS AGO! I think this aspect of the bible bodes well for some proof of the existence of God. You can't deni that.

In your struggle to understand God, or to Prove or disprove His existance, consider the fact that belief in God is a matter of Faith.
I am sure that you can understand that faith means believing, knowing in your heart, without evidence to support it's existance.
I am a strong believer in the Bible, however, IF any of it was wrong, it won't be able to be proven that it was, because of how long ago it was. You can disprove things that happened 2 years ago (or that didn't or whatever) because those witnesses are still alive.
While those who study science, and history are brilliant minds, they have not yet constructed the time machine that it would take to gain those witnesses to Biblical times.
However, I will tell you that there are predictions in the Bible that were wrong if you interperate them a certain way. Of course, it involves a LOT of "assuming" things that we can't really assume because we weren't there. Most notibly, the dream of Daniel in Chapter 7 of his book, he describes a vision of the future.
If you bleive it important that Belshazzar was mentioned, and belive that his vision really was the vision about how Belshazzar would die (in a fire), when history knows that he actually had his head cut off, then, you could say that it was a prediction that did not come out correctly.
On the other hand, like I said, we have to make room for interpretation in order to really come to that conclusion, since Daniel only mentioned Belshazzar by name to say that was who was ruling at the time.

how about this one:
even if snakes had the intellegence to understand human language and even attempted to speak, they do not have the physical vocal capacity.
that's science.
oh, genesis is just an allegory for you, eh?
how bout this one?
If you are female, you have two X chromosomes, and if you are male, you have one X and one Y
this is a fact.
if no human male provided a Y chromosome and jesus was concieved by the holy spirit, then physically, he could only be a woman because NOWHERE mary's DNA is the possibility for a Y chromosome.
not to mention the female egg only provides 23 of the 46 neccessary components to make a human.
if jesus was concieved without another human, she would have been born a blobular mess that probably didn't have the gene signal to tell her body when to begin developing skin let alone all the other vital information for development that would be MISSING with the absense of a human father.
take a genetics course and wise up.
the bible is 110% wrong. not just sorta wrong. it is dead-faced wrong.

lol Revelation and other apocalyptic literature is NOT PROPHETIC. It is meant for people living in that time to explain why things aren't working out and it is written so that if an authority that is written about accuses them of writing about them in a negative manner the writer can say "i would never write bad about you. This is about the future to come." and they can get off the hook. Genesis has been proven false. the earth was not created in 6 days. there were not a man created from mud.
all you have to do is know where to look to find fallacies. they're in there and i don't wanna read the bible to find them. i have to remember to burn the bible i got when i was younger.

This is for meat bot . The Bible does not say Pi =3 ... it only says the following....listen up you may learn something!
1 Kings 7:23 And he made a molten sea, ten cubits from the one brim to the other: it was round all about, and his height was five cubits: and a line of thirty cubits did compass it round about.
2 Chronicles 4:5 And the thickness of it was an handbreadth
The molten sea, was 10 cubits from brim to brim, that is from the outside of the brim to the outside of the brim . Now the brim was a handbreadth in width, about 4.056535 " (based on an 18" cubit) and if we measure the inside of the brim circumference it comes out to exactly 30 cubits around. This makes perfect sence since it would be the inside circumference from which we would derive the capacity of the vessel and the outside diameter in which to describe its size. here is the math to prove it:
C= Pi x D (based on an 18" cubit)
30 cubits = 3.1416... x ( 10 cubits - 2 handbreadths)
540" = 3.1416...x (180 " - (2 x 4.0506535"))
540" = 3.1416... x 171.88693
540"=540"
Meat bot, Rabbits do not chew their cud like a cow does but they do somrthing similar to ruminants when they redigest their food a second time like a ruminant cud chewing cow. For this reason God called them cud chewers.
Come to Christ meat bot .

The institution of slavery is a Biblical concept....and the Bible was used by many churches to justify slavery in the south. Do you feel that slavery is correct?
The Apostle Paul writes about the subjective role of women....Do you think that it is correct that women should not speak up in church?
There are many books that are written that are considered to be historically accurate...and the Bible may be one of them
And while the Bible is inspired by God, (II Timothy 3:16) remember it was written by human beings who brought their own ideas, customs, knowledge and prejudices of the day into their writings...many times writing down stories that were passed down verbally from generation to generation.... do you really think we should apply everything to today?
Especially in the old testament...do you think it is correct to stone a child for disobeying his parents? Do you think women shouldn't enter the church during their menstrual periods?
Anyway, while it may be historically accurate...it does not mean that it should be used literal today.

You have a great point.
Do people really think that Jonah really spent three days in a fish?
That Noah built an ark big enough for a pair of every animal species?
I am sure science and history and further more reason can prove both of these wrong somehow. There are probably more.....

the entire bible was written by about 35 different men over a period of about 1500 years, it is not just a coincidence that the O.T. and the N. T. both agree with each other and do not contradict each other. this could only be accomplished by the hand of God. no other book in the history of mankind can make such a claim

It's so vague (revelations) that I don't think it can be pro-ven (hehe, just kidding :D) right or wrong, but I have to admit I can't read the bible - the awful language (old, 16th centuryish?)makes me want to rip my own ears off, it's horrible....should be done again in modern language...

It is an old canard to say it it always right. It is not.
I will give one brief example.
In Luke 3, it says clearly that Joseph is the son of Heli.
In Matthew 1, it says clearly that Joseph is the son of Jacob.
Which is it? Now some Christians will say Luke is the genealogy of Mary, but that is explicitly contradictory to the clear language of Luke.
So either Luke is wrong, Matthew is wrong, or they both are wrong (my guess). But any way you slice it, SOMEONE is wrong.
