It looks like they made a mistake...
I mean, I know when I get my paycheck for a weeks of work...I get a lot more taken out of my check for FICA and Medicare.

The calculation of withholding is based upon your income for the week times 52 to annualize the amount. Deducted from that annualized figure is the number of exemptions you are claiming, times the state exemption amounts. It is very possible there was no taxable income to withhold. Of course, if you sub again and work a couple of days in the week, the withholding will probably show up.

We file our tax returns to gather all income and make everything even when we file the return. The name of the game is to break even. That rarely happens.

Most likely you did not earn enough to trigger any state withholding. The payroll system probably thinks you worked all week for the $160 which would trigger very little tax.
