how do i get defined curls?

okay, so, I am 13 and want something cute and very modern. Okkiie, so here are the details
- I want smooth and shiny curls( because, like, my hair is really thick and wavy =(
- If possible, can i get pics and instructions ^.^
- I have black hair, layers, and side bangs (kinda emo look =P)

go to sleep at night with pi8n curls all over your head, you will have defined curls in the morning
