I've been noticing lately that some people change their proclaimed belief a lot and often, they express their preferrence for one set of beliefs for maybe a couple of weeks and after that period the "newbies" start acting like they know EVERYTHING about it, being very outspoken and acting so very "true". Even lecturing the "oldies" about it.
Now call me set in my ways, but that's just something that wasn't done in my day. I've been taught to respect hierarchy and seniority. Is it just me or do new people not have this reserve at all anymore?
I've been into my current belief for years and years and still I don't go lecturing people around, like some members here that have been claiming their belief for a month.
Am I the only one annoyed by this?

Edit: I was talking about people who come on here claiming one belief, and then after a while start claiming another belief.
I wasn't refering to how long people have their accounts on here.

Sheesh, people, I was just saying that you can't really develop such deep convictions and beliefs and extensive knowledge in a couple of weeks!
LOL everyone seems to go to great lengths to not understand this question. Maybe I worded it badly.

Respect for the "elder statesmen" in R&S is pretty much a lost cause. For the most part, either they get driven away by the glut of those preaching newbies you were talking about, or else they wind up losing account after account because of false reporting. I imagine most regulars have lost at least one or more accounts due to those who don't respect hierarchy or seniority.
As far as changing one's beliefs, mine have undergone some serious revision here in the past six months or so. I'm exploring several new aspects of my faith, but I hardly claim to be an expert in those areas -- just a student. So much so that the local Barnes and Noble rolls out the red carpet every time they see me coming toward the door, and the store manager named his first born after me. ;-)
Hang in there. . .there will be plenty of people here who respect you for your wisdom and tenacity in your belief system. The rest -- feh, who worries about 'em, anyway?

Well for one I don't know how old anybody is unless they post it in their profile. And the so called "newbies" may be giving their honest opinion about a subject. Did you ever think that maybe some people have true convictions and beliefs on a topic? And how would you know anyways that they know everything? They may only know what knowledge they have come by and they are presenting it here at R & S. I think you are directing your claims against certain persons here that you have come across who seem to know everything. I believe people only know as much as their brain can consume and comprehend. no matter how young or old anybody is here we all have our own knowledge and if the younger person has more knowledge than an older person than so be it. I am 22 years old and I believe I know alot more than some of my "elders". Anybody can be ignorant and anybody can prove to be wiser than the other.

Um, not sure I've witnessed that, unless you're talking about trolls. Otherwise I'd say, is it possible they changed their minds? Don't people have the right to do that? Or is it that maybe you don't fully understand their beliefs and assume they are taking a different stance?
It seems you are insulted by newcomers to R&S thinking they know it all.... but people who were here before have this right because they found the site sooner? I don't get it.
I don't understand your point enough to know if I'd be annoyed by it, but your question kind of annoys me for some reason. Sounds demeaning.

When the baptist church made changes to the bible in 1979 it created fundamentalism and it has white anted itself across the US. People who don't live in the US like myself have noticed in the last five years. This new American only religion has been created filled with hate and labelling persons who don't join there flock. Many US persons who are not involved with religion or persons in other faiths are now beginning to see this "New Church" surface as you have asked in your question of what is going on. I will be fully honest with you. People around the world now no longer find the US a popular destination to visit due to this attitude of these people. In the next few years this is going to be felt through out your country. The US dollar has plunged and country's no longer want to invest or trade in the US anymore and dropping long term trade agreements with the US being deemed being a bad investment not just financially it's the ugly American attitude. It's going to get worse for a lot of people who live in the US with higher levels of unemployment and homelessness. These people think prayer is going to save the world from global warming and all the problems in the US. Here's a little bit of a read that was printed in 1992 just as this white anting started within the US.

you can respect seniority. but doesnt mean you have to agree with them.
just because some 100 yr old dude is christian doesnt mean hes right.
age doesnt make your opinions a fact.
but as for your other point about newbies lecturing about others beliefs. this shouldnt be done either way. simply because they are beliefs. beliefs dont have any solid stance. that is why they are called beliefs.
but yes it does annoy me when people either misrepresent a particular belief, or claim one while displaying behavior contrary to that belief.
edit2: LOL, going at great lengths to not understand the question. =]
i understand it to a degree. i dont think anyone who is new at something should tell someone else how to be good at it. lol. if thats what you mean.
(but then teachers are new to teaching sometime...)

There are some on here that are well versed in many different religions (God Bless them) Then again you are right there are people who claim to know everything, but you can usually tell by the answers who's talking the talk and who's walking the walk. Just consider the source and move on. GOOD LUCK & GOD BLESS!!

Somewhere along the line, either you or an ancestor of yours was a convert. And there's a good chance that they were quite vocal in their beliefs as well.
I think it takes a special kind of person who can think outside the box they were born in, so while they may be an annoyance, an ounce of understanding may also be in order.
And yes, they should respect you and respect EVERYONE.

I've got the impression that that sort of behavior is often engaged in by people of the "absolute truth" mindset. They seem to leap back and forth between absolute positions landing on either side with great fervor and zeal.
I wonder what would happen if we all admitted that we really don't know very much, one way or the other.

This is an open forum. There are no oldies or newbies. And there definitely is no hierarchy or seniority.
"Am I the only one annoyed by this?" I would hope that you're not only the only one annoyed but also the only one who thinks this.

Do you have someone specific in mind? How do you know they are newbies to the belief system? How are you keeping track? As far as respecting elders...the only elders I respect are the ones who share it mutually with me, not the ones who command it.
