Jimmie Johnson would win the championship because he's won more races this year.

EDIT: Hey 24fan.....think about it for a second. If Gordon won the last three races it would be impossible for him and Jimmie to be in a tie.

Jimmie Johnson would win because he has 8 wins and jeff gordon has 7 wins so jimmie would but if they both had the same amount of wins they would go by most top fives and then by tip 10s and ext.

The driver with the most wins will win the cup. Right now Jimmie is ahead in wins. I don't know what they will do if they tie in number of wins as well- probably go for the most top 5's or something.

there would never be a tie cause if there was a tie for the points then they go 2 wins and just say the wins are ther same then they go 2 second place finishes and so that is how the tie would be broken

The odds of Jeff & Jimmie ending the season in a tie is slim and none. Slim just left town!

HOWEVER.. I would imagine that if it ever DID happen, the driver with the most wins for the season would get the championship.. (Go Jimmie!) :)

In the event of a points tie, the champion is decided by whichever driver has the most wins. If both drivers have equal wins, then it goes to the driver with the most top-fives. If the drivers have the same number of top fives, then it goes to top tens.

JH beat me to it.

First most wins, if a Tie, most 2nds and so on.

There was a tie in 2005 for 2nd and 3rd between Biffle and Edwards. Biffle had more wins, and was given 2nd place.
