Oh my...
1. Why Athiests try to prove there is no god? - I don't. YOu can't prove that conclusively.
2. What did christians ever do to them? - Oh wow... From telling me I'll go to hell to criminalising my beliefs all the way to questioning my morality and humanity... Where to start?
3. Also how comes they only talk about christians? Maybe because its the biggest religion in the world or something? Most of us live in countries that are overwhelmingly Christian, many of us are ex-Christians, and the majority of discussion on Y!A R&S centres on Christianity. Plus those who target us do tend to be Christian.
4. I've read the bible and it even says that people will try to convince others that god isnt real. - Bully for you.
5. Also, why wouldnt you wanna believe in a God? You have a better chance of Life of Eternity if you do....Just wondering. - It has nothing to do with what I want. I would like to believe in God. I'd also like to be a millionaire and have the lovely Drew Barrymore be my wife. But fantasies and realities are unfortunately not the same thing...
6. Christians never push there believes on people like athiests do (let me know if im wrong with that! Heh..) That's all. - Okay, this one is true. The two are not "like" each other in the least. Christian belief-pushing is much more insidious and condescending. Point taken.
Have a nice eternity.

"Well I'm wondering why Athiests (Please dont hate on me for saying this) try to prove there is no god?"
Actually we don't. We simply discount the asinine arguments used to prove god.
Big difference.
"What did christians ever do to them?"
It might not be us personally, but we see what they are doing to the world, what they have done to the world, and the evils that can easily be commited under the name of religion.
"Also how comes they only talk about christians? Maybe because its the biggest religion in the world or something?"
You are on a US site, and most of hte users are US citizens. The united states is 80% christian.
It is the group that we are most familiar with.
"I've read the bible and it even says that people will try to convince others that god isnt real."
Yeah, and so does the quran, torah, and Bhagda Vita (sp?)
It's a self-supporting clause.
"Also, why wouldnt you wanna believe in a God? You have a better chance of Life of Eternity if you do....Just wondering."
Many atheists would want to believe. The thing is you can't just make yourself believe something.
I can no more make myself believe in your god than you can just start believing in Leprachauns.

I am an atheist. I don't try to prove there is not god. I don't have to prove anything to anyone.
Christians have done quite a bit to me, but not BECAUSE they were Christians. They were pedophiles who happened to go to that church. They were hypocrites and nasty, hateful people who happened to think they were saved
Christians are not the largest religion by millions. Buddhism is the biggest I bleive, floowed by Hinduism. Islam is the fastest-growing. Even if there was one atheist, I would be it.
So what, I have read the bible, too. There is some interesting stuff in it, and a lot of irrelevant stuff, too.
I don't believe in the god of the bible or the koran or torah. I believe in the magnificence of Nature, and that I am a special speck in its majesty.
I am not afraid of eternity. I do not live my day worrying about where I will be when I die.
I live according to what makes SENSE to me as an adult. I am sober, kind, friendly, loving, generous, stable, loyal, smart, strong, a good mother, generous lover, hard-worker, and very creative. I appreciate my life very much, and I am a peaceful and happy person.
I do not thank a long-white haired guy or his 'son' who died "for me," for any of it. I find no proof anywhere that this is real. But earthquakes, and rainbows, fish, and spit, they are real. I can see and watch them, listen to their messages, and learn how to have peace and contentment there. I also appreciate intangible ideas, like love, faith, justice, and integrity, but i understand they are concepts.
I strive for perfection and peace in my life, just like many christians do. I just have my own way. I am the final authority over my life, not any book. I don't worship any book.
I don't believe Jesus was god. His power to me is that he was a regular person, and in being that, we can all strive to learn and fashion our lives after his way of doing things. His message as it has come fromthe bible is a powerful one. It is not the only powerful story I know.
I do not push my beliefs on anyone. In fact, most people have no idea I believe as I do, because I work and live in a very phobic environment, in which, the christian way is the only way.(Oklahoma.)
I raised my sons atheist. They are fine upstanding loving men, now.

I do not try to prove there is no god... NO GOD is the default position. It is up to YOU to prove there IS a god and so far, there is no evidence to prove that.
The reason I mainly discuss the issues I have with CHristians is that they are the only ones (so far) who pass laws based on their beliefs and insist that I follow those laws, basically forcing me to follow their faith... the two BIG ones are stem cell research (using discarded embryos which will be destroyed anyway... why not use them for something good that will benefit humanity) and gay marriage (there is NO GOOD reason to ban it that is not based on religion).
That and the Pledge (I do not say "under god" when I say the pledge because I'm pledging allegiance to my country, not your god) and on the money, both of which were done LONG after the pledge and money were around in an effort to make the US into a Christian Nation, which it IS NOT.
I don't believe in god for many reasons, but honestly, why would I worship such a horrible, mean, vindictive, manipulative being who killed his own son so I'd be "free"? Free from what? It's just silly and I refuse to go along with it just "because".

We do not try to prove anything. We do point out that faith is based on the lack of facts.
Most Christians do push their beliefs. I have had countless Christians give me the 3rd degree the second they hear me say I'm an Atheist.
As for what Christianity has done to others. Wow. Where do we start. The Crusades maybe. Or we could jump to the inquisition. Maybe the witch trials in both Europe and New England. Let's refocus to other religions. How about the human sacrifices to sun gods. Or slavery based on the idea that other tribes were lower somehow because they followed different gods. Just spend a few minutes looking at history and you can find dozens of examples where religion inspired violence.

Whether there is a higher power and whether Christianity is true are two entirely different questions. Christians assume there is mystery in the universe, therefore- Christianity must be true. They expect everyone to swallow such idiotic logic.
Atheists are just people who have read the bible and saw it to be ridiculous. There is not one iota in the bible that distinguishes itself from any other mythology ever invented. The creation story is wrong and the people who wrote the gospels never met Jesus in their lives (look it up if you think I'm kidding). Jesus believed that insane people were possessed by devils. He had no understanding of mental illness. The biblical god thought homosexuality was worth being killed for. He seems to have no idea that people don't choose to be gay. God seems to have no idea of the germ theory of disease. The bible says the moon is a light, but it is a reflector. The gbiblical god promoted slavery and genocide, and the slaughter of women and children. In short, the biblical god is an absolute made-up idiot who is humanly impossible to believe. What astonishes me to no end is why Christians don't understand why so many people don't believe in Christianity. Year after year the percentage of people who believe in Christianity in America is decreasing. It's because people are waking up. We feel embarrassed that people believe such blatant nonsense.

You're kidding right? Maybe you have to be in the shoes of all non Christians to be able to see it...
"1 more thing, christians never push there believes on people like athiests do (let me know if im wrong with that! Heh..)"
Yeah, you would be. Clearly, again, you can't see it.

"Well I'm wondering why Athiests[sic] ... try to prove there is no god?"
It is spelled A T H E I S T S … a-theists … not theists.
We do NOT try to prove there is NO god.
We KNOW there is none mainly cos there is no evidence.
"(Please dont[sic] hate on me for saying this)"
Most atheists don't HATE anything cos most of us realise it's a childish emotion - it's only children who use the word or those with limited intellect.
So far as Pascal's Wager goes - sorry, it doesn't work.
I can't CHOOSE what to believe just on the off chance there's a hell that I'll go to if I don't.
Anyway - from the evidence I have gathered it's only cowards who go to hell anyway.

I think you would have to ask one who does try to prove there is no god. I've known many atheists and have never met one who tries to prove there is no god. In fact every atheist I've ever personally met agrees that you can't prove a negative. So they wouldn't even agree with the premise.
"why wouldnt you wanna believe in a God?" Let me ask you a question that might help. Could you decide right now to just stop believing? Regardless of your answer this should give you your answer. I could pretend to believe but I would just be pretending.

The answer to your question is simple. Most athiests have been Christians at one point and have drastically changed because of something that went horribly wrong in their life. Hence they believe in God and hate him for "not answering prayers" or "letting such and such happen. Needing an outlet for their anger they turn to the only group that, for no clear reason, tries to discredit God. This goes out to any athiest who reads this. IF GOD'S NOT REAL, HOW CAN YOU HATE HIM? I hope this helps.
Thanks!
