"Eternal" in this context should not be understood to mean " a very long time indeed". Time itself is a property of the material universe so, as heaven is "beyond" the material universe, it is not subject to the constraints of time and space as we know them.
So "eternal" actually means "not subject to time". Quite what that would be like, I have no real idea but boredom is unlikely to be a feature.

it depends on what your eternal life would be like.
if it was an eternity of mainly happiness then it would be a blessing. say for instance if you were in your place of heaven for eternity that most certainly be a blessing. but if your were in your place off hell for all eternity, then that would be a curse.
although maybe having a whole eternity of happiness could be a curse because you would forget what it is like being unhappy for a moment, and would maybe become ungrateful of the happiness you are experiencing.

Well, we don't have a choice as to whether we will live eternally or not. We are stuck with being immortal beings. That is our nature.

"Eternal life," in the scriptures, refers to a blessed and happy state of being. For Latter-day Saints, this meaning includes the concept of eternal progression - a lack of limitation to our abilities to learn, grown and increase in joy and light.

Being immortal (living eternally) is indeed a curse to those who's souls have not progressed to the state of happiness. God's laws are meant to be guidelines to happiness. His punishment/reward is nothing more than who you have become as a result of your choices. Eternal life can indeed be a curse.

The whole point of following the laws of a loving God is to turn your immortal life from a curse into a blessing. Unfortunately, ceasing to be is just not an option.... because we have immortal souls, and that is something that is as unchangeable as God.

It would be a blessing on a cleansed paradise earth. When all those living will join in eternal life as they will not be any evil selfish people any more. Those who are restored to life from death from centuries ago will be those maybe not classified as righteous but those who never had the chance to know what righteous was will get their chance.

In that environment, being able to pursue anything our curiosity comes up with for as long as we want to is indeed a great blessing.

By the promise of God!

Matthew 13:44
Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto treasure hid in a field; the which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth that field.
John 14:2
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
Psalm 78:25
Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.

The Kingdom of heaven is like a treasure, it is so great that you would sell everything you have to get there.
A new home, a new name, no pain, no suffering, no evils…no worries!
Angel's have food? Yep! Cool!

I'd take life in a place like this!

Are you talking about just ONE person with eternal life or everyone? Because there's a big difference...

For example if its just one person who has eternal life then i don't think that would be a good thing =l Would be lonely...

But if everyone had eternal life then i think that there would be nothing special about it... And wouldn't the world be overpopulated =S

If you define eternal life as Heaven, then a part of the very definition of Heaven is that you will be completely happy and satisfied all the time. If you are not happy and satisfied, then you did not go to Heaven. We only know Hell as the alternative.

Eternal life will be dreadful curse for most, who will forever have guilt of offences committed here to haunt them. The only solution is to accept the sacrifice of Christ made on one's behalf.
