My bench max is about 210lbs. on M, W, & F I workout by doing 3 sets of 155 10 times on flat bench, 3 sets of 135 8 times on Incline bench, and 3 sets of 135 10 times on decline bench.

Is that that hurting my body even though I can make the lifts?
I was told that workout load is too heavy, what determines that?
I'm trying to get stronger and I want my max to get up to 300lbs. before I stop lifting to get stronger.

to stimulate hypertrophy you need to use training loads at or near 80% or your 1RM using a time under tension of 60 seconds. which means that each rep should basically take about 6 seconds to perform so a set of 10 reps you basically take 45-60 seconds to complete. it is heavy eccentric training that stimulates muscle growth and causes microtrauma to skeletal muscle, this is the lowering portion of the movement.
