How can you properly dlineate a differnce if they are all called the same thing? Wouldn't it be a slur considering all the rest are fakes.

There are volumes of mythology containing the names and complex biographies of thousands of G/gods. There have been temples built for them and sacrifices made to them. Armies killed and died for them. People had comlpete faith that they were real, until of course they realized that they weren't.

Doesn't the very real God that is worshiped today deserve a title that sets Him apart from the rest?

Thanks

Well, first of all you assume that your God is real and other gods aren't, which is just ignorant. You have no proof that Thor, Ra, or any other god or goddess is false or any less important than the one you worship. You also have no more proof than anyone else that your god exists, so even if you don't realize it...we're all in the same boat with religion. None of us have any more or less proof than anyone else that our specific god or goddess is better or true.

"There are volumes of mythology containing the names and complex biographies of thousands of G/gods. There have been temples built for them and sacrifices made to them. Armies killed and died for them. People had comlpete faith that they were real, until of course they realized that they weren't." << What makes this true of other gods and not your own? Your god sounds just like every other god out there-- I honesty see no difference. Your god, my gods...they all have pasts, myths and followers...but none of them (even your's) have a bit of proof behind them. 0, nada, zip. So that nullifies your question already if you assume that your God in any way stands out from any other...He doesn't. He is a god with followers just like all the others.

Secondly, how dare you insult other religions and then pass it off as a question. That's just mean.

"God" is more of a title and less of a name. When He was created, why didn't the forefathers of your religion give him a name? Isn't that strange? Maybe they figured He wasn't that important.

If you stop insulting others gods then I'll stop showing you where your fallacies lay. You have no right to attack others beliefs and call them false, then assume that your way is the only way. I don't share your beliefs, but they work for you and you have a right to them-- and so does everyone else. Stop acting like your religion is more legitimate- because it's not any more legitimate that any other beliefs.

Go on, stop being cruel to others and calling your god the only true one... all that does is show ignorance and promote hatred.

>>There are volumes of mythology containing the
>>names and complex biographies of thousands
>>of G/gods.

This begs the question of how you can say all 8,000+ of them except for the one in your own monotheisic religion are "fake". People of other religios think YOUR god is just as fake.

>>Doesn't the very real God that is worshiped today
>>deserve a title that sets Him apart from the rest?

It's was the Christians themselves who confused this whole matter by calling their god "God"! If you want a different name, try Yahweh, Jehovah, or Lord, which all come from Judeo-Christian scriptures (surely, you've actually opened a bible?).

There was a rock band called "The Band", a book titled "The Book", and a compact car in the 1980s called "le Car". Should we complain that they used labels that didn't "set them apart from the rest"? If anything, it's just the opposite.

My gods are very real, but they also have very real names. God is not a name but a title. No one seems to b able to satisfactorily answer the queston of what your's is called, which is odd if he speaks to so many people!

there's more than one god. the christian god doesnt deserve people sacrificed because he forces people to worship. never in greek mythology to you hear about one of the true gods or goddesses deciding to control the people for no reason. i know plenty of you christians are wondering, "But we have to repay our sins" that is the dumbest excuse i've heard. im sorry, but i've never understood sins. why should we pay for something we didnt do? what is there to repay? sorry, i didnt have a choice between no life and a life full of insane christians, but i probably would have chosen the first if i knew what was coming.

He has one and he forbid you from using it.

and maybe you just didnt know but, "realized they weren't"

Is a big fat lie. I can almost garuntee that no group that was converted was done so willingly after the Christians got to Rome.

My gods do not appreciate your comments. They would like to point out....

Thor carries a hammer....

Jesus was nailed to a cross....

Do not call them fake, and i will not repeat or finish that.

It is unwise to upset a grumpy war god that is strong enough break mountains and who wields a hammer that sends sparks out when it hits its target. These sparks are called lightening....imagaine what taking Mjoulnir to the chest would feel like.

... are you suggesting that my faith in my gods and goddesses isn't as strong as a Christian's faith in their God?

That you are any more sure of your beliefs than me?

That my deities are fake because the Church began a smear campaign against them, despite the fact that people have been believing in them since before Christianity existed?

In couple thousand years, the Gods of today will be relegated to mythology just like the Gods of yesterday. Perhaps we'd make up new Gods to replace the old ones. Hopefully, by the year 4007, we'd have purged our need to believe in myths.

Dearie,
It's because the ones you call "fake gods" are very real to other people, who perhaps are not as close-minded.

I think it best to respect the belief system of others, which often boils down to worshipping the same basic idea, no matter what name you call it/him/her.

Wouldn't you say this is the best way to get along and respect each other?

I think my gods would very much disagree with that statement. They still call thier blood lines and we still answer. There is no more or less proof of my gods then any other god. The Hebrew god tried to take over the world and it didn't work. :) God isn't WHO they are, its WHAT they are.
And they DO have different names. Thor, Odin, Freya, Freyr, Frigga, Skadi, Njord, Baldr, Hodr, Sif...the list goes on.
Hail the Gods!!

Prove to me that your God is real and that Thor isn't.
I'm sorry babe, but you can't. Now go back to school and get an education before it's too late.
