Rings tend to catch on things a lot, and with it taking up to a year to heal, can really cause problems.
I recommend a banana barbell, should be better on the healing.
Good luck

I prefer the curved bar. The first time I got my navel pierced, I had a hoop. While I slept, it would get turned to one side or the other and get "stuck" like that. It was painful and also hard to straighten back out.

Don't start with a hoop, the most comfortable and least likely to catch or pull on your clothes would be the banana type or curved bar bell, as you put it.

When I got mine done, They automatically put a hoop in until it healed. After that, I removed the hoop and I put the bar in. Its easier to clean and heal if you use the hoop for a while though. Good Luck!!

They put a captive-ball hoop in mine when it was pierced. Some piercers will have a preference, some may not.

I would say a hoop, but be aware, they take a while to heal. I swear mine took a year and I was a saint about keeing it clean! But, it healed fine and I kept it in for years. The scar wasn't bad when I took it out either.

When I got mine done both times they put a circular barbell in it and then I changed it to a curved barbell in it.

Curved bar bell. They don't get caught on clothes, towels, etc as much.
