I am planning of getting a cheap, economical, left hand drive car to drive through Europe for a few months but the paper work involved in importing the car to te UK initilaly, seems quite diffcult, also left hand drive cars for sale in the UK seem quite expensive.
I have however found a cheap left hand drive car for sale, with PORTUGUESE number plates. The car is in the UK now- is it difficult for me to register it with UK number plates?

Insurance is higher on left hand drive.

Just get a right hand drive and be careful when overtaking!

You can re-register and get a "Q" plate.

To reregister it you will have to do a bit of work. New headlamps for dipping to the left (stickers won't do) Speedo in MPH. possibly a couple more. Ask at a MOT station what you will have to do to get it UK legal.
