I'll give you an example- 99% of people in one country will claim to adhere to islam, and yet another country will be 50% atheist. However, the science community is the same globally. This would indicate to me that religion is based on influence and control, rather than true knowledge or freewill. Another thing that terrifies me is how popular completely made up beliefs are adhered to as fact in more advanced and educated countries, like Bigfoot, ghosts, ufos, etc.

What do you think? A complete failure in heuristic information gathering techniques?

Alright, based on the poor answers so far, please be sure to understand what heuristic information gathering techniques mean before responding. Please. I'm looking for an educated answer along the lines of computer science, maybe I asked in the wrong group... I am not reffering to any one religion directly, either.

...good luck getting in contact with people as smart as you, but be very careful....a lot of people tend to throw out words like "heuristic" just because they're pretentious...

have you ever seen george washington? do you believe that he existed? have faith....faith is believing in something you can't see. God/Jesus is real or else you wouldn't be here to ask this question.
