Strange and intriging question. From a spiritual point of view... the Holy Spirits indwelling gives us some clues as to what is happening. Here is just a small example. There was a time before I had my 4th and 5th child that I would randomly run into somone..say at a traffic light or in passing at a store and the Holy Spirit would say "See them" like pay attention. Then something would happen to them or their family. The Holy Spirit was spurring me to pray for certain people at certain times. I think when we abide in the spirit, we are aware of far more than just the everyday stuff.

Not too much. I keep my blinds closed because I hate to have people look in, and I haven't spent the money on curtains. I don't read newspapers, or have a TV or radio. About the only news I get is on the Yahoo front page when I start it up, or if someone leaves a newspaper on the bus and I pick it up out of boredom. Or I walk past a newspaper rack and notice the headlines.
Even so, I tend to get more news than I want.

I'm a little too sensitive to things going on around me. I wonder if a beer would help? I mean yoga helps but I don't feel up to busting out a 2 hour practice so beer sounds like the next best thing,

Sometimes painfully so. I have a keen sense of hearing, with a slight distortion at certain frequencies from too many concerts! I feel very very sensitive to others, especially when I am around them very much. Sometimes what I don't hear is enough to set off my inner alarm.

I try to be more focused on my service and my internal meditation. When necessary yes I am aware of the externals besides my own business. But what is the use if it is nonsense. I am looking to raise my consciousnesss to higher consciousnes. If i am focusing on others activities (which are generally not very spiritually) then I may not make much progress. The saints and sages focus within the heart and the service they are performing.

Most times I am TOO aware and try to block out a lot of what is swirling around me. It tends to overwhelm me at times and I seek solitude to maintain balance.

I think it varies. Sometimes I am acutely aware of what is going on around me....at other times I am completely oblivious!

No, I'm completely oblivious to my surroundings and what goes on. I see the best in people and trust everyone until proven otherwise:)
