While they are only guaranteed for the day and time stamped on the ticket, you can use an unscanned or unripped ticket that you were unable to use for a future day, usually within one year, by going to the box office on the day that you wish to see the show and if there are any unsold tickets left they will exchange them. This is a little secret that most people don't know about but they do understand that illnesses, planes don't arrive or other uncontrollable events occur. Of course, if you have two people the two new seats may not be together or even in the same price category so if you had orchestra seats they may offer you rear mezzanine and you can only exchange the tickets for same day performance, not future ones and if they are sold out of that day you are out of luck.

Broadway tickets are like sports tickets and concert tickets, in that they are only good for the specific date and time listed on the ticket.

You need to clarify your question.
If you mean you have a ticket to a Broadway show. That ticket is for a specific performance (date and time). If you don't go to it, you lose it.
