illegal immigrants will drive with or without a license, and many without insurance. So in reality, what difference will it make other than at one point the DMV will have a short term clue where the driver lives, and will be able to gain a little funding from it. This will not make them legal drivers though as many still will be on the road with no insurance. Then what will you do when they get too many points? take away a license and they will drive anyway.

I think that it's a good idea. I didn't like when I heard about, but the new proposal make a lot of sense. The illegals still have to pass the test and have proof of insurance. People who disagree with it evidently don't understand that they are going to drive, they can't be naive enough to think that the illegals won't drive.

He's not proposing it because it passed already. Now illegals with NY drivers licenses can roam the country. This will be the end of Spitzers political career.

Polls show that more than 75 percent of New Yorkers oppose this, just like the rest of America. How can we even discuss this in a nation where we took all this time to set up and respect laws.

If those same illegals could not take those licenses to other states and replace them with ones from the other states, I would say great. Let all the illegals move to New York and see what rises faster the car insurance rates, the demand for social welfare programs or voter fraud.

simply put,if you give an illegal immigrant a legal driver license,you automatically,acknowledge them as a legal resident,thus they can no longer by classified as illegals,boy these democrats/liberals sure are shady people are they not,they will do anything to increase there voter base,even at the expense of real Americans,and the nation as a hole!
