plan my wedding; I know I want white calla lillies as the main flower, but I don't know what the a good second flower would be, or maybe just something as a filler.
My colors are wine and silver, the only ideas I've come up with are small wine colored roses or tulips.
Any good ideas? Thanks!! :)

Well you could just stick to the white calla lillies and have the base of the bouquets wrapped in wine colored ribbon.

I know that you can get some wine colored gerbera daisies...I would love those two together, but it really depends on how funky you want to get.

Roses are excellent next to Callas and with the variety of colors, you can find many color choices. Liatris which a lavender fuzzy flower that would resemble a microphone in shape would be a good choice. Tulips would be good and there is a variety of hot pink that might look nice. Iris is a nice choice if you just want to add a few in for color but leave the main focus on the callas. Blades of grass can be folded into loops, wired, taped and inserted into the bouquet. Caspia is a nice filler flower that is white with a hint of purple. You can have a cascade, round or hand tie bouquet simply of callas and greenery and simply accent with a silver or wine colored ribbon weaved into the bouquet or wrapped around the stems should you choose the hand tied bouquet. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Hi and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

First of all....have you had a consultation with a florist yet? You should:
a. Look through magazines and online to get pictures and see what you like;
b. Go to a florist and look through their books. They have LOTS and LOTS of pictures of weddings they have done.

Also, remember, that is their business! They are there to help you. You don't need to go in with a full understanding of everything...they can guide you AND make recommendations for flowers based on your budget.

That said.....are the girls dresses wine colored? How pretty!
Personally, I love the look of contrasts and something not ordinary. Such as....if the girls dresses are wine....why not have them carry White Calla Lillies....and you carry a Wine colored (if your dress is white or ivory).

Did you know calla lillies come in many colors....one of them being called a "black calla lilly". It's actually a wine color and is shown in the second link. The first link shows various colors:

http://www.flowers.pacificcallas.com/

Now, if you don't like that idea....yes, I love the white calla lillies for you and you could mix it with a white or cream rose and other "white/ivory" flowers.

Again, make an appointment with your florist to get ideas and suggestions!

Good luck!

Visit several florists and pose the question to them and see what ideas they offer you. Also check Martha Stewart's wedding site. I think she shows how to do an all white wedding.

Personally I like the idea of the white calla lillies with those spiral stems that often come in silver. As someone else suggested you could bring the wine color in by using around the bouquet stems.

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding. No matter what you decide you will be beautiful!

For my wedding my flowers were calla lilies and roses they are a really good combination. I had purple tinted roses and the white calla lillies and it was gorgeous. I would also recommened just the lillies and wrapped with wine colored ribbon.

Colored mini-calla lillies. They are beautiful, unexpensive and you can buy them in bulk. They also make fantastic boutuniers to give the old never-seen-before rose a break.

Good luck

Wine colored roses would look nice, or long, thin leaves ( I can't remember their name). Tulips are beautiful, but they bloom quickly, which opens them up, then they don't look so good.

EDIT: You could also mix white and wine colored calla lilies whit the long thin leaves.

calla lillies come in a dark red/wine color. I wouldn't add any fillers since calla lillies are soo elegant by themselves. Use the white with the dark red/wine.

why would you want other flowers???????? cala lillies are beautiful by themselves.. when you put them with other flowers they take away from the simple and elegant beauty of the cala lilly.. if you have your heart set on another flower, however, then go with orchids.. they are thin and they wont over power much!

gerbera daisies, roses, or carnations will probably work. But check out The Knot flower guide (I'm relying heavily on it)
