They say things like "I want my baby back"....."I love my Baby"...."My Baby is pretty".....Where's my baby"... They always refer to the wife, girlfriend as "Baby". Why?

it may happen a lot in the south, but i know a lot of people up here that do it too. it is jsut a way of implying that you care for the person and that you love them. i call my dog baby, becaus ei take care of him, much liek i would a child, mayeb that has soemthign to do with it too. take care of the ones you love ya know?

It's just a southern thing. Most girls will call other girls...sweetie. Men are no different.."baby" is often used. My husband of 17 years calls me "baby"..."baby doll"..."baby love"...
I actually love the fact that southern men will do this.
