Her temperature will drop a few degrees upto 12 hours before she goes into labour and she will scratch around to make a comfortable spot for herself to give birth. The only definate sign is when she starts pushing. The milk thing is normal in the late stages of pregnancy. Also dogs are very seldom early giving birth and almost never go more than 2 days over their due date
Hope this helps

Being at 38 weeks means that you could start contracting soon. But I'm guessing that your milk leaking was a response to something in your environment. An older child crying perhaps.

I hope you don't need a lot of sleep tonight...
We've had 3 litters and usually when the teats are ready, the pups soon follow. If you are birthing the pups yourself, get everything ready and do a walk thru, knowing where everything is. If you are taking the momma to have the pups, call them right away and let them know that she is ready. You could take her temp too. Her temp will fluctuate before labor.
Good luck!
First litters tend to come early and we are just passed a full moon. I wouldn't plan on 9 more days of labor.

this can vary widely some of my dogs don't even prduce milk until teh litter is born.
Teh best is take her temp at least 3 times a day starting now and when the temp goes below 99 degrees then figure 24-48 hours.

Yes, keep a close eye on her and take her for walks only on a leash othwise she could have them anywhere and if it's her first litter she could just leave them anywhere and not know what to do. Some dogs don't always have a mothering instinct and they need tobe shown what to do.

I think that's normal. It happens to human mothers also, so it kind of makes sense that it would happen with dogs. I wouldn't worry about it but if you need a definite answer there's no harm in calling your veterinarian to get a quick answer on it.

Nothing, human women do this too. It's natural for mammals to leak a little milk when lactating.

she is ready to go into labour soon. so what she is doing is getting rid of the milk that has been sitting their and replacing it with fresh colostrum for the puppies... good luck..

Wow... you're on day 54 and not sure what's going on?
You really might want to start doing some research... actually, you probably should have done it BEFORE you bred her.
