This is a genuine question and not meant to provoke!

GOD is the author

God is the "author" of the Bible, but he used many real people to write his messages down, so it is not all that easy to get a thorough understanding of every one of those messages. The really important ones are clear, but several detailed content items have given rise to endless debates. It's not so much a "factual" book as a truth book, but it requires faith and open-mindedness to even begin to grasp those truths. And it definitely didn't involve research, like an encyclopedia or textbook would. And it really takes a lifetime (and more) to learn it all.

God is the author using 39 men as secretaries over a 1,500 year time period. As secretaries do, they put in their own style, as long as it does not delude the message. Since only God was there at the beginning, first hand knowledge was His. Other times, first person accounts as the secretaries were there and things happened to them. Then there were visions of the future given to writers in a manner they could handle. For instance, how would you explain to your great-great-grandfather what a Mercedes was? He never saw anything faster than a horse. How would you explain air conditioning?

So the writers could not really envision spirit creatures as they really are so needed something they could understand. God gave them prophesies that always proved to be accurate.

The bible is a lot of oral tradition passed on from generation to generation and then eventually written down. Story telling was a major part of most religious/philosophical traditions until someone had the capability or the desire to put it on paper.
Honestly, none of us really knows the true origins of the stories presented. Many of them mimic other older religious traditions and lore. That's probably true for many sacred texts to some extent. (that's the extent of my basic knowledge of the bible and it's authorship)

The Bible is a collection of various books written at various times.

They were collected into a single volume by the Council of Nicaea, convened by the Emperor Constantine I in 325 A.D.

Essentially, the bible is a collection of works that were voted on to be included.

I suggest to anyone interested in getting towards the truth about the bible - go study 'The Talmud Jmmanuel' text.
This is the closest (and may be..) to the missing 'Q' gospel text.

Anyway give it a read, and see what you think about it?

For truthseekers especially...

At least 66 authors over thousands of years. It is the history, thoughts and belief of the people that wrote it. It is the journey of man and his relationship to God.
