I don't want to give a gift card or cash, and I don't want to ask my neice outright what she wants because I want it to be a surprise.

Any suggestions?

P.s. I prefer not to ask her parents what she wants.

Well the thing is, i dont know one person in my school who likes Hannah Montana. And only a few of my friends like high school musical. Plus, no offense but no kid likes to get clothes they didnt pick out. I am in 7th grade (im 12) and let me tell you what some ideas could be. Think about her favorite movie. Posters, pictures, calenders, and stuff like that are cool. For popular movies there are school stuff, which kids like to take and show off.

If she is more on the girly-girl side, get her lipgloss, purses, wallets, and maybe even stuffed animals.

If more on the tom boy side, get her things from favorite sport. Or if a favorite outside toy is worn out, get her a new one. (rollerblades, skateboards, etc.)

If she doesnt have a cell phone, get her a pre-payed phone with some minutes to go with it. It may not be glamorous, but she will learn responsibility. And the best thing is her parents wont get mad at you. When they do decide to get her a cell, she will learn how to use her minutes wisely. Best of luck!

I am yet to meet a girl who doesn't love Hannah Montana or High School Musical.
Ask her mom or dad what she's into.
