This is a phrase I use a lot, so I'm curious as to how others interpret this:

"The biggest sinners always pray the loudest."

I liken it to what Jesus said about the priests in the temple, and those who gave flashy gifts in front of all. Those who pray loudest and show off their religion are those who need saving the most - because they have no real understanding of God.

The advantage and attraction of "sin" is that the sinner is not constrained by rules. But religion is all about ethical rules. So those who publically promote religious observance in others while ignoring it privately have the biggest advantage of all. It's like pretending to tie your own shoes to each other so that others will do the same.

it is a misphrase i would say.
if i could rewrite it it would be..."Those who are aware of their sins pray the loudest" as every person is a sinner, in thought or in deed and the only real difference between the best and the worst of humankind is the level of awareness of one's own invited in evilness.

I interpret it, "the squeaky wheel gets the oil."

And just in passing, not everyone prays aloud. Some pray quietly. Some pray silently. Still others pray loudly.

God bless you.

Loud public piety is useful cover for misdeeds. If people believe your are very religious, they will trust you more and be less likely to suspect you of wrongdoing.

When you are doing something wrong, public piety is a successful strategy.

never thought about that...
but there is a verse in the bible that says: "never let your right ear hear what you are doing"

H-U-M-I-L-I-T-Y is the main issue here...

what you do, you should just keep it to yourself...
>you dont have to sound a trumpet to tell everyone how your life is going...
>you dont have to tell the world what your achievements are...

pride=the opposite of humility is one of the capital sin...

so better stay humble!=)

Jesus said, "When you pray, go into your secret closet, so that no man sees you." They pray the loudest and the most selfishly. "Forgive me, do it again, Forgive me, do it again, Forgive me!
