Narasimma was a wicked giant .He did much harm to the gods .Shri Krishna fought against the giant (the sinner ) and killed him. That day is celebrated as Deepavali.

Hindu Philosophy always teaches that a true Hindu should arm himself ,fight and kill away the evil peoples.

Gandhi the Father of Indian Nation was assasinated by the Hindus not for prefering violence to fight against the enemy.

Thus all evil peoples should be killed. That is the major Duty of every Hindu .

Unfortunately these Hindus Mistake or Misunderstand the other groups of people to be evil and attempt to carry out their Duty against them ( that is to kill them away ).

According to Hindu Philosophy , all meat eaters ( especially the cow eaters ) like Muslims and the Americans should be destroyed by the Hindus. To prefer Violence and To Destroy such evil peoples is the major Duty of every Hindu .

That is why every Hindu god seems to hold some weapon.

Does America know the Meaning of Deepavali ?

yes I do -I also think YOU ARE A BIG FARCE!!!!!!!!! you don't even know the meaning yourself--Narasringa was the lion incarnation of God--not the demon whom he killed named Hiranyakasipu--who attempted to kill his own son Pralad many times-but who always was saved by the Lord until he got killed by Lord Narisringadev-
DEEPAVALI IS THE DAY LORD RAM RETURNED TO HIS KINGDOM OF AYODHA AND EVERYONE OFFERED LAMPS TO HIM IN GREAT HAPPINESS!
You are a real fool--Hindus are peaceful and killing evil people is NOT the religious duty of Hindus--like for Muslims or other religions! You are busted just for being so dumb!!!!!!!!!!!

Sorry but you got the name of that giant wrong. Narasimha is a name of God who is in the half man half lion form. I never heard your version for this festival. We love to light our candles on deepvali in celebration of Lord Ramachandra coming home from the forest.. I know there are a couple other reasons for the celebration but -The problem with many Hindus is they just pass down some of their stories and ideas from one generation to another thinking they are correct. Then after thousands of generations later it is a whole different story meaning and even characters. They need to read the Srimad Bhagavatam by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada all is there in a pure disciplic lineage nothing changed, no hear say.

TESSE! Think very little about it no one will be good on Good Friday, that's the tradition of man an excuse to go to church or preach. It's when Jesus was crucified for our sins, he died and went to hades, on Sunday morning rose again. He is alive now in the human heart by the Holy Spirit and is in heaven with our Father God. Being good on Friday doesn't have nothing to do with it. Everybody with not be good every day. Take care! Jimmy.

Hello Sundar
I don't mean to offend you but you're definition of what is Diwali is incorrect and also the part where you said that it is the duty of every Hindu to kill meat eaters is also incorrect.

Please study the Hindu scriptures and do some research on Hinduism.

Please go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holi and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diwali

I would like to know the source of where you got you're information from please

Sundar sounds like a Tamil name, converted to Christianity, retains the original name for some social and governmental benefits. Please remove your concealing outfit, come out with courage and abuse Hindus and Hinduism.Probably you would have completed a crash program in your chruch recently on how to vehemently down grade Hindus and demean Hinduism duing Deepavali festive season. The intolerance attitude of the converts fuelled by the reverends during Hindu festivals are not uncommon in Southern parts of Tamil Nadu, specifically from Kanya Kumari district and Nagar kovil areas. One of the modules of the program you have studied could be on, “How to spread false information about Hinduism in Cyberspace”.I think you have completed course with a distinction.Well done.

Facts about Deepavali Festival

Deepavali is one of the most popular festivals in India. It is the festival of lights symbolising the victory of righteousness and the lifting of spiritual darkness. The word `Deepavali’ literally means rows of Deepa or Diya (clay lamp). Deepavali is a festival for lighting rows of lamps. There is also a deeper meaning associated with this. Lamps give light, which is a symbol of Gyana (knowledge or Wisdom). Knowledge is a lasting inner wealth by which all outer achievements can be accomplished. Lakshmi (wealth) increases only in the environment of knowledge and light, where the intentions and motives are clear and full of wisdom.Wherever there is Agyana, that is darkness or ignorance, it leads to loss of wealth and even if it is acquired it is not long lasting. Hence we light lamps to bow down to knowledge as the greatest of all forms of wealth. The symbolism of light is essential to this festival. It is understood that without light there can be no life. Light is responsible for the development of all living things. Light is associated with heat, the sun and the divine.
It is also stated that during this day Goddess Lakshmi resides in the flame of the Deepa or Diya making the purpose of lighting the Deepa even more significant.
The traditional oil lamp has a further spiritual and scientific significance. The spiritual significance being that the oil or ghee in the lamp symbolises our Vaasanas (negative tendencies) and the wick, the ego. When lit by spiritual knowledge, the Vaasanas get slowly exhausted and the ego too finally perishes. The scientific reason can be stated in a way that ghee lamp is a mode of purifying the environment and distributing what one has to give to a large number of people.

Ahimsa or Non violence in Hinduism

Hindus oppose killing for several reasons. Belief in karma and reincarnation are strong forces at work in the Hindu mind. They full well know that any thought, feeling or action sent out from themself to another will return to them through yet another in equal or amplified velocity. What we have done to others will be done to us, if not in this life then in another. The Hindu is thoroughly convinced that violence which he commits will return to him by a cosmic process that is unerring. Two thousand years ago South India's weaver saint Tiruvalluvar said it so simply, "All suffering recoils on the wrongdoer himself. Therefore, those who desire not to suffer refrain from causing others pain." A similar view can be found in the Jain scripture Acaranga Sutra:
To do harm to others is to do harm to oneself. You are he whom you intend to kill. You are he whom you intend to dominate. We corrupt ourselves as soon as we intend to corrupt others. We kill ourselves as soon as we intend to kill others.

Live and Let us live in Peace

Please follow your own religion and be peaceful with it. No Hindus stop you practising Christianity. We,Hindus do not spread false information or demean your faith. Why not have a broad mind and leave us alone.
